The third shot down showing an underwater scene in anonymous-generalpics claims to be a Matador but front and side windows dont look right could it be an albion CX22?

I can remember scores of this type of half track stored in lines just inside the wire at Woolwich Arsenal in the late 1950's together with 155mm guns on m1 chassis between Abbey Wood and Plumstead Church Manorway.

thanks Richard! The M110 is confrimed in the Fiekd of Fire exhibit at firepower along with 2pdr A/T, 3.7"screw gun, M7 Priest 3.7"HAA, L118 105mm light gun, Auster and Honest John. The M107 is currently in the Cold war gallery along with the SP70 in the background but not open to public view at present. The chassis at the yard shown earleir do look like those for 107/110/578 from wheel sites and the turrets to the rightseem to be 109. Alan

It certainly used to be a good weekend as the weather always seemed to be on our side and having driven the quad with icicles hanging of my nose for the half term week, it was a relief. Mike Buckley used these words in an e mail to me" The Mil Veh show is off for 2010 as "they" don't see it as useful or worthwhile and does not have any synergy with a military museum!!! (what ever she thinks that means) "and that for a site that evaluated nearly every vehicle/item that the british army ever used over its 300 years. The link I posted last week is the lady whose words he used, so polite enquiries about the show for thi9s year could always be addressed to her.

The thing is that Firepower is not a NAtional Museum, with free entrance. it is the Regiment of Royal Artillery's , regimetal museum and therfore a private concern and chargeable. I seem to have missed last years event due to losing my mum and the museum may have been shorthanded due to losing 3 of their stalwart volunteer members (Reg John & Bert RIP). The cold war gallery has actually been mothballed due to electric and gas costs and the removal of items from the Rotunda , which is now totally empty and closed, down to the Arsenal Site and fill any spaces available. The nature of the site , no single entry point, precludes the museum from raising any charges to see your vehicles, which you have displayed at your own costs, Personal thanks from me for that . However they must still try and make money to cover costs, hence entrance fee, shop and cafe. THis years model train and wargaming weekends will be covered by the entrance fee to view. bofors were isued to RAF Regiments in the 80s for airfield defence and were not part of the RA who were starting to use missiles.

The chap who used to run it Mike Buckley has left the building with his radio setup. The lady wot pulls the purse strings has said not in my expenditure window to run it. Tis a shame as it did used to bring a fair number of customers onto the site but not neccessarily into the museum, although cafe did roaring trade, but you cant get BAcon baguettes any more, steak sarnies £4.95. If anyone would like to take on and organise a show at short notice please email jennyb@firepower.org.uk but dont mention me as Im going back in as a volunteer soon. There is a new Lt Colnel up at the barracks who is trying to encourage more volunteers and ideas so perhaps if he was involved it might help some

Firepowers Green Mace is the only one extant, there were other experiments including a single autofeed barrel powered by a couple of B40 engines and a conveyor belt either side at the rear for loading the shells. The experiments did lead to the 4.5" automatic Naval gun.
