  1. been trying to find this type of thread so here are a few views of Churchills from the RAWHS collection
  2. found these views amongst RAWHS collection, there were more civvie views early 50's than military views
  3. I thought that I read somwhere that oneof the guys from the NOrth London Barmy Army had a complete outfit as they had a chieftain t=o lug around. Some also tested at Woolwich
  4. there is no eveidence of fire on the museums exhibit, mind you theres no engine/gearbox or computer bits either, all the plastic stowage bins are undamaged, got a city of \nottingham emblem on base of barell.
  5. Thanks Richard for the confirmation the 110 is in the field of fire exhibit, but in deference to the Regiments creed of "the Guns are our colours" we never set foot in any of them, unlike some of the squaddies who if they needed to find a hiding place would dive into anything with an unlocked lid or door. Any idea how they got the AS90 did it fall off the back of a lorry, lifting strop and twist its chassis, so becoming uneconomical to repair.
  6. Thanks to richard for putting me right, thats the thing with working with the military, they tell you one thing when its not true and of course you keep the story going for the customers that ask cos you have been Bulls****d and dont know any better. nice photo of the firepower unit. The museum certainly have an AK47 but also a RPG kit. they never told us where they came from
  7. having worked at the Royal Artillery museum in woolwich I can tell you that they were all sold to Austria, where the chassis were stored and the turrets mounted on platforms in the mountains for self defence. The AUstrian authorities have been kind enough to totally refurbish 1 unit and present it to the museum and it currently resides in the cold war gallery (currently closed) where it is in Gulf 1 colours. sorry but I cant find a photo at the moment from own own collection
  8. the ferret is swimminh in the background with the martian in it, the odd thing is under control from the martian and is hidden by the left bank. the front looks wrong even for a defunct 434. So I throw it open to the experts.
  9. dont know but the driver wore a frogmans outfit cos they sunk it under him
  10. No one seems to have picked up on my teaser at the end of my first set of pics. If you haven' zoomed in on the makers plate next to driving position then this is what you would have found
  11. looks likea railgun carriage. If Firepower could have raised the funds then the Rotunda gun Would have gone down there, its only 195tons after all, on the LILO entrance/exit island at the bottom of burrage road .Regt couldnt help nor MOD or RE/REME so it stayed at the rotunda until last year when after notice was given that the rotunda is to close and be vacated by this Dec. somehow it was miraculously able to be transported 150 miles to wiltshire by MOD staff rather than 1.5 miles to Woolwich Arsenal. There are/were other large pieces at the rotunda including a disappearing mount that will go to RM Museum Eastney, beautiful cast beams on it but cupola made of boiler plate and suffering from severe rust bug and can just be seen behind the French 75mm Special.
