  1. good afternoon & welcome. hope you find everything you need & if you can't please feel free to ask Jack. :-D Berni
  2. spot on  swimming pool fridge shower dvd player tv fan (for hot days) heater ( for cold days) toilet double bed bedside tables thank goodness for a jimmy Berni
  3. you should have woke me up, a loud 'oi put the kettle on' works for other people. i thoroughly enjoyed myself, the dances were good & we had so much fun on the vietnam night, shame the bar ran out of worthys & then ran out of speckled hen  but at least they will be better prepared for next year. the Service on monday was lovely with the pipe & drum band marching through the grounds to the memorial in the abby ruins.the band was followed by the wreath bearers, re enacters & the Chelsea pensioners with everyone else following on behind, very moving . we stayed till just after 1pm on the monday & it had started to clear up a bit by then as my tent was practically dry. the museum said that visiters were up on last year and were extremelly pleased with how it went despite the weather. i only bumped into Ashley so sorry for missing the rest of you, being a female it also made it a much more pleasant experience by having proper toilets. will definatley book in next year Berni
  4. i will be in a small british ridge tent near a half track, a 12 x 12, a reo & a jimmy, the reo is called snoopy so pop by & say hi. on sunday night i will be dressed as a hippy in some pretty disgusting clothes doing some fairly oap dancing so please feel free to ignore me on this occasion. berni
  5. jimmy is still not ready i have managed to get a lift in a REO which i have been assured is a proper truck :-o Berni
  6. i set a 12v shower up in my tent, they come with a small pump, a controlable shower head, on off switch, 12v connecter to a cig lighter socket & a pouch for normal batteries. you fill a bucket up with warm water & dunk the pump. they are fab & it has revolutionised camping. mine fits into a small A4 size bag so not too bulky. ( you can also set them up between 2 trucks. gas ovens are great and our camping diet has changed dramatically. gas fridges, well , it made such a difference being able to keep the beer cold ( and the odd pint of milk). i have recouped the initial outlay cost by not having to throw away any unused food every weekend, being kept in a fridge i can just transfer it into the house fridge where as keeping it in a cool box was ok but by a sunday it was getting warm ( even tried freezing food) 12v flourescent lights, how easy are these, the battery lasts a lot longer than the usual c's or d's & you can light up much more safely during the night than you can with a gas lamp, no more gas to buy, no more mantles to replace, just charge up a car battery once a year. i used 1 car battery for my dvd player. 2 12v tubes & my shower & have just recharged it ready for the start of the show season. all of these things are great & it doeas help having a jimmy although it did all fit in the back of the bedford with the 12 x 12. go for all of them, a few comforts & i can't pick which one has made the most difference as now i deem them all neccessary. from a wuss Berni
  7. :dunno: the sad thing about this is that the kids / authorities wont take any notice & none of them have any respect for anything, not even their own belongings. cctv is a step forward berni
  8. has it been on Milweb? i haven't seen it. shame it didn't sell but very often people ring you after the event. hopefully it won't be sat on the shelf for too long Berni
  9. hi Brian i don't think we have many pilots on here so you may be a first, good luck in your quest for a ferrett Berni
  10. just glad i could offer some advice to your mates  Berni
  11. i can recommend jims MW canvas as we replaced ours a couple of years ago & it was spot on. i too would like to read the answer on canvas preservation Berni
  12. thay are also popular because they fit on a normal sized household drive so no storage costs involved, it is a fair price for what looks a very tidy truck. we had 4 MWs at north nibley last year which was real good to see. 3 of them have booked back in again this year which is going to be great as the rally has moved to Berkely castle so it will seem like old times for the 100 vehicles i've got booked in. Berni
  13. it is the wrong filter, i just had confirmation from russ, the one for sale also has the bedford badge on the dash that we are after so russ is a bit jealous. berni
  14. we have got run flats on the bedford & they weigh over 13 stone each we cheated & paid a mutual friend who works for motorway tyres to come & change all the tyres, he charged 20.00 per tyre & was done in about an hour or so i know it wasn't as much fun as doing it ourselves but it was so much less hassle & saved a few knuckles in the process berni
  15. i wouldn't know about the air filter ( russ would) but i have seen the MW at variuos shows over the years. it is an aero screen just like ours too, they remind me of cute puppies :-D Berni
  16. now then chaps, if your mates  had the foresight of a female they would have photocopied the certs a couple of times, laminated 1 copy, put 1 copy in the truck and the original in the household filing system ( with birth certs passports etc)) this may be an idea for any other certs before your mates  lose any more  berni

its all done from books & looking at pictures on the internet. Russ managed to get a kdf/beetle hardback book which has coloured pictures of almost every one produced. when he is starting a project he spends a few weeks reading anything he can get his hands on to make sure he has a fighting chance, there's books in the frontroom, loo, bathroom & bedroom . he also takes high definintion photos of vehicles at shows so he can blow up the detail on the pc at home. e bay is a great source of parts & he also used a company in poland called old time garage ( oldtimegarage.com) i think. it did seem a bit dodgy as you put money by bank transfer into an account in poland & then wait a week or so for the bits to arrive, it did cost extra to do this so if you do end up using them make sure you have a comprehensive list & order it all in 1 go.( 25.00 charge at the bank) there is also a comapany based kent way who trade at Beltring but i can't remember what they are called i will try & find photos of the KDF he did a couple of years ago as this was also a project from a modern car to a replica staff car. but really the only advice i can give is to do research & then more research, i know i was a bit of a renovation widow for a while when russ was working on each of them but the end result was worth all the hardship. it was also kind of fun in a perverse way, ta Berni
  18. i am booked in but even if the jimmy isn't ready i will be there as a stowaway with friends.
  19. well here is an update on whats happening, part way through the season last year the paint started flaking off in huge chunks. the original coat did react to start with & had to be cleaned off & rubbed down again so mayne this had something to do with it. well anyway we finished the year with it & bought some new paint at Malvern. Windy has soent the past month or so in pieces being rubbed down again, primered (like Jacks) & re sprayed. we have only got as far as the front end as far as the cab so still a fair bit of work to do. we are supposed to be at Castle coombe this weekend but won't be ready in time. The brakes also need sorting even though they haven't deteriorated form last year they are not as sharp as Russ would like. they need 3 pumps then are perfect. it is also looking doubtful if it'll be ready for the bank holiday weekend. oh well tea time & then back down the barn berni
  20. welcome cris & sorry i missed you on the salisbury plain weekend but my jimmy is still in bits at the moment so i haven't been anywhere lately. make yourself at home Berni
  21. unless you are into d*gging etc i'd keep well away from the Birdlip view point. I bet they all wondered what on earth was going on. it is not a place i have been to after dark but i have heard all about it. next time anything like that happens watch how you bend over. Apparently there is a special code you can flash out with your headlights :-o to let others know its all clear to start. chuckling at thought Berni
