    I am going on a Holiday near Cardiff for a week starting on the 4th July with my Youngest Daughter and family. Can anyone suggest anywhere to visit? I am planning a day in Hay-on-Wye to visit the bookshops, but are there any other places to visit, like Museums, or MV club meetings? Many thanks.

    As a guide line, I own 2 British wartime Military vehicles. I know their wartime serial numbers, their contract numbers, when one of them was sold off and an approximate date of manufacture for both. That is all. The only way to know a vehicle's history is to find a photo of it in use, which is near impossible, or find original markings on it.

    Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the Police can ask for an MoT test on an exempt vehicle if they suspect it of being dangerous and if it fails, charge the owner.

    I was watching BBC 'South Today' last week when an item came on about a man in Southampton. They showed a photo of him in his Army days, with a Ford WOA2 behind him. To my amazement, I realised the number on the bonnet was possibly the same as my WOA2!! The number visible is M495650? (the last number is hidden) and my WOA2 is M4956508. I have talked to the BBC but they have not come back to me yet. If anything happens, I will update this post.

    Richard As far as I am aware, all the vehicles from Bordon are moving to Lyneham, but I do not know the exact details yet. If I hear any more, I will let everyone know. Robert

    I found out last night that the fire started in an electrical cupboard just outside the Museum. The VCs the Museum had were in Bank storage, and a new Medal cabinet protected some others. All documentation was stored off-site, but the reserve collection was stored on the top of the building, which was a total loss including some drums from the regimental band in 1914. According to witnesses, the local Fire Brigade were very helpful and keen to save as much from the Museum and house as they could.

    I have just heard that Clandon House in Surrey has been destroyed by a devastating fire. In the basement was the East Surrey Regimental Museum. My thoughts are with the curator for the loss. http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/local-news/clandon-park-fire-massive-amount-9148162

    The REME Museum at Arborfield is closing on Saturday 25th April, ready to move to Lynham and open again in 2016. There is to be an event this Saturday, with several family events and displays. Details are on their website http://www.rememuseum.org.uk/news.aspx?nid=40 and this will be the last time to visit the Museum in its present location. Hope you can make it.

    I've just been to Andy Robertshaw's WW1 Trench in Surrey. He is having an open day this weekend and for £6 you can visit his Trench system. There are guides to take you round and WW1 re-enactors to answer any questions. If you can't make it this weekend, try emailing him and finding out when the next open day is. I can thoroughly recommend it.

    I heard that the British Army were considering using the US Helmet during WW2. Is this photo taken during a trial period?

    On TV tonight is the Great British Sewing Bee. Of the Finalists, one is a serving REME Soldier and another is an ex-REME man. Neil is a Lt Col in REME and Matt was a REME vehicle mechanic.

    I heard from a man who worked at Rootes in the 1940s/1950s when they were overhauling American Dodge vehicles. The engine was always changed to a rebuilt one even if there was no problem with it, so the vehicle was 'as new' when the Dodge left the Rootes factory for re-issue.

    The opening date at the Lyneham site is unsure. I heard rumours of early 2016, but no confirmed date yet. However, I will let you all know when something is arranged.

    Does anyone know if there is there a REME Re-Enactor group anywhere? The REME Museum are looking for a display on Saturday 25th April to mark their closure on the current Arborfield site before moving to Lyneham and are specifically looking for a REME display. Can anyone help or give me any assistance, please? Many thanks Robert

    The Lucas distributor is better, but change the condenser to a Lucas DCB121C (do not use an original condenser) and use a setting up tool to get the timing right. Also get the 2 contact breaker points perfect, to EXACTLY 15 thou each. Also, have you tried the Green Spark plug company for a cap?

    Try any Autojumble as they do turn up quite regularly. You want the round kind, Not the 'crab' looking one. Another place to try is the Early Ford V8 club or Belcher engineering.

    On Monday at 18:15 I had a Grandson born. Mother and baby both well. He was 9 pounds 7 ounces and will be called Joshua.

    My Grandchildren are staying with me over Christmas, and I thought of a 'Change of Address' form for Santa might be amusing. Can anyone on here help me or point me as to where I could find anything on the Internet, please? My Granddaughters are both child IMPS members, so I do have an excuse to use the Forum....
