    I think its a very good plan to try and re-use as much of the original timber as you can. We have done the same on projects in the past, keep as much original as we can and carefully graft in new when necessary.

    Through my research available of Rootes wartime vehicle production it states that between 1939 and August 1943 there were just over 6500 Commer Q2's delivered. I have a Q2 that has a chassis number just after 5700 and is registered as 1942, from the above this would lead me to think that its correct. I ideally want to find out which service it was delivered too. I am still researching.

    Thank you Richard. I also contacted the Rootes Archive centre to see if they have any information. I know its a pretty impossible task but I want to find out any more about a particular vehicle, i.e. contract number and hopefully which service?

    Just putting this out there to see if anyone can help. I have copies of Rootes Contracts that show overall numbers produced etc but I was wondering if anyone has anything that indicates a contract starting from a chassis number? For example Instruction manuals that I have state that contracts start from a specific chassis number.

    It really is looking good. It reminds me very much of the civilian 7V, thats not the easiest layout to change gear either.

    Looks more Humber Snipe Utility than the Heavy, any photos of the from bodywork which would shed more light?

    You would really need to inspect any items before making bids as you simply cannot judge condition from the photos on thecauction site.

    I have a little Ford 10 car, I had the loom made at AutoSparks from the original pattern.

    You have a very talented daughter, well done her! I recall the time it took us to route the choke cable and hand throttle on our lorry, tedious and time consuming. Lots of adjusting here and there and bruised knuckles!
