  1. Here are acouple of Hippo shots for the thread, a MK2A with twin rear wheels and the early MK1 with open canvas top. A number of these went to france and were lost but i have read a small number had remained in the UK and were gradually phased out in the mid 1940s i also have a photo showing that a number went to the middle east, it would be interesting to find out how many arrived there and if any lay at the bottom of the sea in sunken ships
  2. A Opel 3 ton medical truck but not quite, seen here in a captured vehicle dump near Cherbourg the interior is kitted out as a vehicle repair workshop naughty boys

  5. The coloured photo of the M32 in Nicks entrant is the cover of a new book on US military recovery vehicles both tracked and wheeled, all photos i am told are full page and good quality and it is written by top US military vehicle historian David Doyle

  8. I deal direct with BW as far as i know Barry only sells this way if the site is playing up you can always ring him with a order, Tony a guy in wales i believe produces a resin 1/35 101 but not sure if its the GS or Ambulance i will see if i can find any details cheers Les
  9. Neil, in 1/76 scale BW models produce the MK1 stalwart and MK2 with crane kit nos BW17 and BW18. Also in the range are the Salamander kit BW30 and the MK2 reef rescue unit RAF Gan kit BW110 in addition are 4 models of the Saracen 6x6 all in white metal they can be a little fiddely at times but the end results are good
  10. I was in with my order in the very early stages of the book, its here, trouble is i cant look at it untill the 25th got to keep em happy indoors

  13. Hey up and ang on ere we must all be on cross purposes do we have two Jules on the Forum one in East sussex and one in Oxford, i presume i thought i was on to Jules in Seddlescombe but it looks like Jules light warning resides in Oxford am i correct

  15. Details attached of the annual Trucks and Tracks model show held at the Leas Cliff Hall Folkestone, its well worth a visit if military vehicles are your interest. Obviously its main theme is models and some excellent examples of all types can be seen but a small number of 1 to 1 vehicles are parked out side over the show time
  16. A couple of shots of the ambulance i believe during modification trials for N.I, have the doors been removed for quick exit.

  18. It would be a shame to change the colours Jules but i think the black ear pattern could be a little more prominant, any chance of it coming on our road run this spring cheers Les

A bit of info please regarding the german archives, i take it these images are through the Wikamedia set up with the bundesarchiv now i get to the site but the search box seems to reveal little if any thing at all, i need to know if this all i am supposed to do or do i need to click on other parts to bring up images similer to these cheers Les

O K guys and gals we are all well into preservation, history research etc on military and old vehicles but we must all have at least one other passion in life besides the obvious so to start this for a bit of fun heres mine and has been since i was 15 years old. Believe me they have been put to good use over the years and here are 2 thirds of my collection, so whos next up
  22. Queen mary coupled to a late model Crossley Q tractor and something a little different a WW2 German 3 axle trailer used for transporting those weird human torpedoes. Not much documentation can be found on these and even less on the trailer so comments will be interesting cheers Les
  23. Another Vass conversion on a MK 1 Milly this one with a Harvey Frost Atlas12 crane, Vass were agents for Harvey Frost and on a visit to the yard long ago i was given one of the plates they fitted to their conversions
  24. Ivor, out of interest how many troops were recruited into the manx regiment. I assume that most were from the Island or were they like many other units and made up numbers with others, also when hostilities ended and the lads returned home did the equipment come home with them cheers Les
  25. Now that is interesting Ivor a completly different body on the QL and a later design trailer, i have seen that trailer body elsewhere and cant remember where but certainly not in the dental service a new can of worms now begins to open eh thanks Les
