If there are no justifications received to maintain any they will be rendered obsolete after this period. There are only 350 EMERs remaining & these have not been updated in 10 years. This list can be downloaded from www.allanwebb.co.uk/lecomportfolio/ Nothing could beat the EMER publications relating to vehicles and ancillaries, when the AESP's came in they were sadly lacking and were mainly a compilation of manufacturer's publications that did not go deep enough with the information. Just because something has "not been updated in 10 years" doesn't mean it is no longer valid or worthwhile. The texts of most major religions have not been updated in 10 years but they still seem to serve a useful purpose for many people. I remember the Tech Library in the workshops I was at, had EMER's going back to WW2 and there was even a manual for a early 1920's Dennis lorry there ........ that would have predated the establishment so no bounds how it came to be there! Vast numbers of Series 3 Rover EMERs in the series WV Q 020 etc were converted to AESPs in the octad 2320-D-100, seemed an awful waste of effort. As you say many AESPs refer back to EMERs, particularly EMER WORKSHOPS. Will some of those have to be AESPed & the AESPs that make references to EMERs themselves re-written? Didn't that involve Scorpion Tanks Richard? It was to do with Wheel Bearing being used in the CRV(T) Range. As a lot of us already know, Ball Bearing race sets. Are available from many manufacturers. & they have equivilents to each others Bearing Part Numbers. I feel this is how it got out, Alvis Possibly couldn't get the original Bearing sets any more. & turned to another Equivelent set. Manufactured by Different company. And sourced through a specialist bearing supplier. The Fact that this company was Russian, was completely overlooked!..... I think personally, It was a case of: 'We need X. And this other Bearing has identical dimentions. & Qualities. We will use these'......... And some Hack from a Newspaper got hold of this tit bit of information. & blew it up into a front page story!...
