Davey089
Speak to Malcom at www.welbikeuk.com quality stuff , hellish engineers , the engineer that makes the items has had welbikes for years he has just brought a MK2 Series 2 in from America to renovate . These guy's are the bees knees , I've just paid them a visit and had my steering sorted its perfect , they are now supplying european dealers with parts . Forget the Indian he's bad news ,I know of someone who's had dealings with him, stick with British engineering quality ! Dave

DesertBlooms88
Wouldn't this one be a prototype with those tanks? Never seen that image in that greater quality before I see what you mean. I just hit the website link and aswell as this image if you enter a search for welbike they have two others. Both images show a welbike being assembled from some kind case and they have the other tanks fitted. looks like they are demonstrating the bikes use in the field as it were straight from transport box. Ron
Yes that picture is on of the six prototypes built before production of the MK1 commenced. Two of these prototypes are still surviving. Note the slick tyres on the prototype. Ron
Scammell4199
I'm guessing this is one of the two said survivors being advertised and now sold: http://www.militaryautographs.com/item.asp?itemnum=738 Richard
Ron
Exactly so Richard. That one was bought from that website by a Dutch friend of mine. The other one was found on a council rubbish tip years ago by a man not far from me. He also had a Mk1 and a Mk2. I visited him several times over the years, and he agreed to sell me all three. But he died last year before it happened. He left everything to his nephew and I know not what has happened to them. BTW I was talking to Andy Tiernan at last weeks Kempton jumble. He and a friend are now producing most parts for Welbikes including complete frames. I was quite impressed with the saddle they had on display. Could be worth a call! MHillyard
I know the person you are on about, i believe his name is Duncan, i have his phone number if you are interested. He does a lot of ebay selling of parts based in Leiston.

Scammell4199
Would that be the Welbike UK people Ron? I've looked at their website, it all looks really good. But since i have the equipment and the skills i want to do as much as possible myself, thats the enjoyable bit for me. Plus doing the engineering drawings will give me something to do in the evenings when im away on work. Hopefully i'll give you a ring over the christmas holiday. Cheers, Richard

Cheers, Richard Welbike UK and the Leiston person are two separate suppliers. Welbike UK is based at a professional engineering workshop where they have the capability to make just about anything to precise measurements. Thats where i got my wheels from which they machined out of a solid piece of metal, but of course you are paying a lot more for this service.
