Tony B Posted June 26, 2009 Share Posted June 26, 2009 Hitler di have such weird ideas, For Instance, in Jersey he insited that observation towers built at Mont Orguiel castle were faced with granite so as not to spoil the asthetics. Pilots were told to make sure it was not touched, but was very close to the Dockyard and naval base. And one night the house was bombed. It was rebuilt, and it's called Mount Edgecomb. It was used as a D day embarkation point, as it has access to the sea. From the time of the house being bombed, the only bombs that fell on Plymouth were miles away from the house and the sea. andreadavide Posted June 26, 2009 Share Posted June 26, 2009 I seem to remember that there was a prohibition to bomb the Battersea Power plant, too, but for tactical reasons.
