chambers101 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Anyone on here going . We might be going in the 101. Apparently there is going to be a Conquerer there from the R.E.M.E Museum. Quote
Runflat Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 The Conq's appearance was confirmed to me today - its coughing and spluttering problems having been cured. Just don't ask the driver what the problem was... Quote
Lwt Big Cheese Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Will they turn up this time? Went last time to find that (apparently) all the Heavies had gone to Wales! Quote
Tony B Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I'd love to get there. Bring back a lot of memories. Quote
Bedfordrl Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I have just been on the AWDC website and noticed that all vehicles regardless of age will have to have seatbelts for passengers and drivers, will this include the Conqueror ?. Have to now work out how to put seatbelts in the RL, Bah. Quote
chambers101 Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Depends how strict they are on the seatbelts. I was there riding around in the back of the Bedford MK mine truck at the last event and they wern't to bothered about that. Maybe the rules had to be changed. Quote
Tony B Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 What ever happned to 'you do know what your'e getting in to? You:yes. Right have fun. Though to be fair, back in the days of the steam carriage when I marshalled if a vehicle had seat belts, you had to wear them on the sections. Remember the days of trying to do the trial sections blindfold? :-D Quote
Bedfordrl Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I spoke to Mr Emden and apparently the rules are not so harsh for the heavies, just as well because i am not sure that there would be a safe way of putting them in an RL. Brought her home yesterday and dropped the roof rails and have given her a check over so hopefully it is all systems go for Sunday F.A.B. Quote
Tony B Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Sounds like you might have some fun weather for it as well. Lucky ....lucky......... Quote
chambers101 Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 Make sure you bring a rope as you will probably be asked by 1 or 2 of the Unimog drivers for a tow. We had to tow one out of the lake last time. Quote
chambers101 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 Unfortunatly were not takin the 101 as it has an oil leak. So im going with a friend to spectate. I'll still have the camera so smile. Quote
Tony B Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I thought the rule was you had to have a rope ready fitted? Or was it a way to hitch without a shackle? Quote
Bedfordrl Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Well we came,we saw and we got stuck. (note to self," DEEP WATER" on a sign means "BOTTOMLESS PIT".:stop: Good job that Foden was there. Looking forward to the next one. Quote
chambers101 Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 I was riding around in the back of the mineproof Bedford all day. It was a great day even though i got whacked in the face by a big branch. It was very cold. Got pics of your little water adventure BedfordRl. Quote
Tony B Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 may have been better to wade IN first, rather than wade out. :-D Quote
Bedfordrl Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 The funny thing was the water the other side,(it was a sort of pond split in the middle by a small island) was deep but no so deep and i got through that but the distributor got wet . The right hand side looked shallow, but there was a hole which i fell right into, apparently there is a step straight back out but she was having none of that. Quick dry out and we off again. Quote
Nick Johns Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Oh.. Slab common ...liquid abrasive compound....the RL will be due for a brake rebuild soon ! Quote
