Tilford "a village at war" 2008

Recommended Posts

I have been attending this event for the past 4 years, it is normally well attended by reenactors and veterans. Here is the link to the official web site http://www.rurallife.plus.com/rlc/ it is located in Farnham, Surrey and the whole place is set up like a small village with displays inside the buildings, they even have a fully furnished prefab which you can walk around and a small section of train track with running engine. It is all very laid back and I believe run by volunteers.

Apparently the Canadian army trained in the area prior to D-Day and there are mock ups of the Atlantic wall in the woods. I have also been told that the Band of Brothers was filmed in the area.

Blimey! I just realsides that after many years of admiring american vehicles and stuff, I've aquired a taste for the british as well. Not only the military related stuff. The latest soundbook I listened to was Sherlock Holmes Hound of Baskerville, I just finished a cup of tea and some bread with marmelade. I've gotten intrested in steam engines. I do belive I've gotten the british desease...

But how can you not after seeing wonderful photos like these. I love the english countryside! Thanks for sharing!!! :-)

Brilliant vid's, Steve.

Is the woodland track you used available during Tilford show, for those with vehicles to drive, or is it only by permission ??

Hi Steve,

Yes, re the hill, I did notice the panning of camera onto tyre 'scrabble', on the hill.

A great test for the 'old girls', though :)

The Dodge, pictured on side of track, looked to be in trouble,....or partly parked in a rut,.........was it ok; ( I'm guessing it was, as no one stopped to help, them.......)

Again, Great vid's.

Cheers.

Andy
