FREDERIC
Hello Tony Beautiful photo of your Kfz2, yes Stoewer had four wheel steer I'm trying to give you a lillte Stoewer's historic ! From 1934, Standardisation Wehrmacht vehicles (Heer, Luftwaffe and kriegsmarine) and soon SS , is setting up. Also Civilian vehicles adapted for military use progressively are abandoned and specifics vehicles arrived whith particularity technical become very important. Classification is set up with letters : Kfz (kraftfahrzeug : motor vehicle) then number for specific purpose. This classification is only for motor manufacturer but not car manufacturer There were three manufacturer : Stoewer since 1936 to 1943 BMW 1937 to 1940 Hanomag 1937 to 1940 Some little difference between manufacturers outside, could not know manufacturers without open bonnet. These véhicles had four wheel steer or normal There was five Stoewer versions : Kfz 1= four passenger vehicle Kfz2 = Radio vehicle kfz2/40 = Vehicle "service, repair" Kfz3 : guard vehicle Kfz 4 vehicle with little "DCA" PS : sorry for my poor english and many thanks to HARRAP'S.... :) Edited July 17, 2010 by FREDERIC
Tony B
Thanks Fredric, the one pictured is owned by Damien Horn, he owns the Jersey Military musuem. It was in the Island and following the end of the war was sold at auction locally. It then became a family car!
