AlienFTM Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Could be. It does look familiar (which is why I was surprised I couldn't remember a division it belonged to). Our modern map-marking symbols are derived from these but not exactly the same. Looking at it now, I shouldn't be at all surprised to learn that this indicated a wheeled infantry (or recce) unit. Must get another slice of that delicious humble pie. Quote
Kfz70 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 From memory the circular tactical symbols were used predominantly by Fahrrad and Kradschützen units, with a few exceptions (vermittlung springs to mind). Dave Quote
ashley Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009  aniti aircraft M.G. battalion, the bottom marking O/S the circle should be a figure indicating which company from memory Ashley Quote

mark m uk Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Fantastic pictures, really top stuff - I have some somewhere, will sort them out and post them up when I get a minuete. Do you know where these were taken ? I am really interested in any pictures taken of the 1940 Blitzkreig on France, in and around Rouen, which was under attack from Rommel's mob mid June. My Grandfather was killed there. Regards Mark. Quote

AlienFTM Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 2. A (vehicle: I presume ... indicates an unidentifiable word) of 1 Platoon standing under water (some ...) war/battle 1940-41. I thought maybe the Winter War with Finland but it's the wrong winter. Quote
Enigma Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 A few more. Winter in Russland...... No caption Vormarsch dürch schwieriges gelände, Sommer 1941 (Advance through difficult terrain, summer 1941). Quote
schliesser92 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I would suggest that the staff car up to it's axles in water was in Holland/Belgium/Northern France. The Dutch opened some of the sluices, causing some flooding. the last picture of the first set looks like a Horch - probably Russia or eastern Germany/Poland Quote

paul hocking Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Hi, The "officer" standing by his BMW car is in fact an NCO, a Feldwebel (Company Sergeant major), the badge is an SA Military Sports Badge, which indicates that before being in the Heers (Army) he was in the SA-Sturmabteilung (Brownshirts) Paul Quote
berna2vm Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Heavy bus based on a Bussing chassis, been informed these are NSKK personel Are these not Luftwaffe guys? Quote
les freathy Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Dont ask me i have limited knowledge on german uniforms, two more here some horse drawn equipment and a german bridging truck and trailer Quote
paul hocking Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Hi, Yes, all the personnal with the Bussing-Nag bus are NSKK, one officer and four other ranks, the bus also carries a plate on the front saying FAHRSCHULE (Driving School). So even though the bus carries a Luftwaffe registration it is being used by the NSKK for one of their prime functions, that of driver training. Paul Quote
