Tony, I would almost be willing to put a days pension on yours having been cobbled from a Coventry Climax trailer pump chassis axle wheels, legs tow/eye/brake assy and retractable handling bars on the front .

Don,t know about cobbled. The tailgate and tub are properly fixed, but could well be the same origin. Who made the trailers for the pump? The chassis was defimitley the one used for the DF trailers. The original intention was to take the tub off and put a DF box on it.

NOW you have posted the pictures of the trailer it is not a number 5 mark one as it has not got the castor wheel it has a handbrake which was not fitted on the 5 mark one but was fitted on the early GS THERE IS DIFFERANCE IN LENGTH

BETWEEN THE TWO 5 MARK ONE IS 10 FT 9 INCHES THE EARLY ONE IS 11FT 6 INCHES the post war number is listed in the record 0f key cards which were held at BEVERLEY and are now at DEEPCUT

Hi Wally can you date it from the X number ? & what else do you know about these early trailers ?

IAN if you can give me a few days l will see what l can do if l can get my son in law to post the information on here

there where six types on this chassis the only differance between them seems to be tyre size yours should have 900x13

others had 750 x20 I cannot find it been used as a pump trailer also there were several manufactureres does this start to help

Hi Wally the seller confirmed that this was a Generator trailer when he purchased it and he has since removed & scrapped the generator, I now think that the trailer started life as a 1 ton GS MK 5 and post war was converted into a generator trailer with overrun brakes & corner legs for support ?

Hi Wally thanks for the 'Key Card' & other info, I can now confirm that my trailer is a TRAILER 1 TON 2 W.H. G.S. Later type with caster wheel. but post war it has had overrun hitch/parking brake fitted & support leg from an 'Early Type' the plan is to remove the 2 rear support legs & fit them onto my 180 gallon water bowser as that has the incorrect later legs fitted but keep the front hitch & leg.
