Bloc
Hi everyone, My name is Dave and I hail from Brighton, East Sussex. I primarily collect old land rovers and currently have 9! my son wants me committed. 2 of these I discovered were formerly military (a series 1 and a series 2)and so I have decided to restore one of these back to its roots. This is new territory to me and as I have not yet taken possession of the one I am concentrating on I do not possess a lot of information for it. This one is the series 1. I have been told it is 1956, the erm no is 93 BP 89 and the no below this is 57104820(which may be the chassis no?) Until I have the V5 this is all I've got so far so any info anyone out there can furnish me with it will be greatly appreciated. I hope to restore this to a condition so it does not embarras the old girl at shows and meetings where I hope to meet some of you. Bye for now, Dave
robin craig
Welcome to the forum Dave. Love old military Land Rovers, I am currently trying to find a left hand drive Series 1 military here in North America so I can restore it. landrover nick
Dave The military landrover registration numbers for the year 1955-56 were all BP numbers the lowest i have a photo of is 37BP45 to 99BP15 which is the highest the numbers would have started 00BP01 and run to 99BP99 but could have included vehicles other than landrovers Nicky
wally dugan
The BP range of number was a mixture of vehicles as said there were three contract listed for the mk 3 landrover numbers 36 BP 85 TO 48 BP 58 60 BP 37 TO 74 BP CONTRACT 6/V/16223 92 BP O7 ONE NUMBER CONTRACT 6/V18421 and last 92 BP 59 TO 99 BP 99 CONTRACT 6/V/18599
Bloc
Dear Wally Dugan & Landrover Nick, thank you for this info. Please excuse my ignorance as I am new to this area but what do you mean by 'contract' what area of the military would thi be assigned to? Regards, Dave
wally dugan
DAVE all military vehicles have a contract number to put simply its the number of the contract between the MOD and the manufacturer your landrover served with the army there is no record of a history card for 93BP
Bloc
Dear Wally Dugan, Many thanks. Is it possible to find out where it was originally sent from the contract no. Is there any other avenues that I can pursue as you say there is no record card for it. Could it be significant that no record card exists for it. Regards, Dave
wally dugan
DAVE the fact that there is no history card just means like others it was destroyed or loss for example only a hand full of the BC RANGE survived It is unlikely you will find any military history unless you find the remains of signs under the paint on both front wings careful removal of the paint layer by layer may reveal some thing providing the paint has not been removed before if you do find any thing photo graph it and post on here some one may be able to tell you more REGARDS WALLY
