Nick Johns
Front engine mounting plate that bolts to the block behind the timing cover Yes correct, but its not the usual Jeep engine front plate shape, those odd engine mounts and no dynamo mounting hole, the Willys engine was used for lots of other applications..its not from the post war pickup or industrial/generator engine, they still used the conventional Jeep plate with angled engine mounts, presumably the plate is from some other application, or.. the pre war Willys car that used the Americar engine, which was re designed to become the Jeep engine Edited April 10, 2015 by Nick Johns
Richard Farrant
Is it off one of the Willys generator engines?
Nick Johns
Is it off one of the Willys generator engines? No Richard, they used the conventional Jeep front plates Edited April 10, 2015 by Nick Johns
Nick Johns
Did a bit more research, and I my thoughts were correct, the front plate is from an Americar engine as used in pre war Willys cars, so if your engine was 1945, presume someone put an MB Jeep engine into the earlier Willys car Edited April 10, 2015 by Nick Johns

It appears they must have got into the army's rebuild chain during service life. The Australian army museum at Bandiana have an Americar staff car restored so it could be if they had a fleet of them, this is how the blocks have ended up in jeeps.
