RattlesnakeBob
crikey that's a mess . I reckon folks would be better off trying to get those that are still sitting up in the Golan heights that have appeared on the internet in the last few years
GoranWC51
A mess!? This is almost turn-key condition compared to some other German armor I've seen that now is in complete running condition. The extremely high value of German armor makes virtually any project worthwhile to restore. Goran N
paulbrook
Agreed - in its way no worse than much of the stuff that we do here. That said there are a few hours with a welder on that offside!
eddy8men
Adrian will probably end up putting a new side on it. and I think the cadmans have a spare turret if memory serves me right. so don't be surprised if you see it driving around war and peace some day. rick
RattlesnakeBob
yeah I know someone will redoubtably rebuild it but it is a mess and is gonna need about 3 wheelbarrows full of welding rods from what I can see .and whaddaya mean ? needs a turret ? there's a perfectly serviceable one upside down chucked in the hull ! paul_bish
I would say that looks like a good basis for a resto if you have the skills and the budget
Hoseman
I would say that looks like a good basis for a resto if you have the skills and the budget T-Cut and elbow grease, no dramas!!! Oh and a certified lunatic to take it on too . . . . .most of us then!!! Lol
ajmac
So many parts missing and damaged, years of work or a large restoration bill, thinking about it....probably both!
Whittingham warrior
Was there not one done up made up of 24 other Panzer IV's, tons of mild steel topped off with a 432 engine and that was meant to be from 1944. Imagine taking a vehicle like that to the DVLA and asking for an age related plate! Certainly puts the navvy's spade in the shade.
Runflat
A bit of an exaggeration my friend: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?22100-Fess-up-who-s-restoring-a-Panzer-IV http://preservedtanks.com/Profile.aspx?UniqueID=2170

Lauren Child
just saw this charioteer as well for £3.5k https://huutokaupat.com/fi/v/98119 Bargain!
eddy8men
charioteer went for 10k euro, which is a fair bit more than I thought it would as there's not much demand for shot up british tanks. probably bought for parts but still on the steep side ! rick

RattlesnakeBob
So.........er.... call me stupid or miserable or whatever but.... .........even if you had that sort of money lying around idle?.... ...would any of you seriously have paid 200,000 Euros for that wreck ?....that's almost £160,000 by my reckoning... with at the very least the same amount and a whole lot more again to be spent on it before it was ever even vaguely resembling a tank ... ......and yes I know some of you will say "but it'd be worth maybe £500,000 when it was done !" well maybe so but.... I can't imagine taking on such an smashed wreck is going to be in any way whatsoever an 'easy' nor really an enjoyable task? ...to say nothing of the stress and hassle and heartbreak of even attempting to find all the bits you'd need ?.......... .....never mind the horror of writing all the cheques and handing over extremely large wads of cash for rusty crusty knackered and decayed bits and pieces?...and that's if you were lucky enough to find them in the first place....probably from some chancer dealer who knew damn well how desperately you needed them and so fleeced you in some sort of order before he handed them over ????? ..... I dunno ...call me pessimistic too if you want to but.... I understand it's a properly historic vehicle but..... there are others in the world ( Golan Heights / various former Syrian and Iraqy military bases etc) that are in far more complete condition so.....if you had the kind of money that is gonna be needed to rebuild this one?....then why wouldn't you just head out to wherever you needed to go to buy one of the others and save yourself having heart failure on the way ? Am I getting the wrong end of the stick or what ????? :-)
sirhc
Wrong end of the stick I think... This one was for sale, the others you mention are not! You never know, the new owner may have loads of parts stashed away waiting for a hull to come along.
ajmac
When you consider how many wrecks he has in his collection I think he looks at it as building up assets, some like to look at the bank balance others stroll through the assets. The other day a chap was interviewed on TV, he had a classic Ferrari that he brought back in 2008 which was now valued at £10,000,000 ten times what he paid for it back in 2008. If luck is on your side those assets may accumulate 😊
eddy8men
got a bargain, I was expecting it to go for more but the new owner will have to use original parts where possible if he wants to get over the £1m mark and besides they say rose tinted glasses are essential when buying a project. I know of an idiot with a shot up old tank just as bad as that one which will be worth a fraction of the value of the panzer
GeePig
The way I see it is that there should be something available to restore for all pockets, whether it be a panzer or a commando bicycle. All I have is a Dinky Toys no.688 Field Artillery Tractor... :-) trevor
