tyler
Can anyone tell me what the visual differences between a S2a and a S3 gearbox are part numbers etc? Ive just recived a recon box to fit to my SWB S2A but it looks identical to the box fitted to my S3 Shorland and has a filler cap at the top of the box whereas the box fitted to the S2A just has a circle cast on the top. S2A: http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/6798/dsc01948yu8.th.jpg[/img] Recon box: http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/3608/dsc00419gi5.th.jpg[/img] Thanks. Poptopshed
The easy way to tell the difference is where the clutch slave cylinder is. On series 2/2a boxes the slave is mounted verticaly on the righthand side of the box and its a rod operated release bearing. On the 3's the cylinder is mounted horizontaly on the lefthand side of the box.
Grumpy
Unless some bright spark has swapped the bell housing over
79x100
If it jumps out of gear, it's probably a Series 3 !
ian001
we had a good long debate on this, later S2as are the same as the S3, have a look: http://www.takeforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=518&mforum=mvwf Cheers Ian
