diggerdog36
I'm interested in buying an FV432, I have storage for it but the owner of the garden centre where it'll be stored has asked what the ground pressure is of the 432, as its built on an old mine!! I was going to work it out but I don't know the size of the track pads, how many are in contact with the ground at any time. Can anyone answer? Is the psi of the footprint much more than say a bin wagon or a 40ft lorry?? Cheers

diggerdog36
Great thanks, that's about double of what a human exerts! Cheers
Richard Farrant
due to it been tracked its ground presure is very low 0.78kg/sq.cm That ground pressure is equivalent to 11 Pounds per Sq. Inch, which is the average ground pressure of a man, dependant a bit on whether standing or walking. From my early classroom days, 11psi always springs to mind as the ground pressure of a lot of tracked vehicles. It is likely that designers actually work out the pressure for vehicle, to be on a par with the average man.
theredkite
I always enjoy telling people that the Scorpion has a lower ground pressure than a ballerina. I'm happy to say that a BBC kids tv programme went ahead and proved it:
