johnwardle
Please take note; when insuring your military vehicle do not tell the broker that you sleep in your vehicle or they will insist you insure it as a 'Motor Home' I was quoted nearly £400.00 to insure a Leyland Daf 4 tonner. (must be my age, I'm only 54 with 35 years no claims)
Stormin
Stange that! A friend of mine bought a large van to convert into a motorsport support vehicle / camper. To get the considerable discount of camper insurance versus commercial insurance the van had to meet several criteria to class as a camper. I can't remember them all but it included:- must have a fixed bed, must have cooking facility, sink with running water and at least one additional window. All features were to be permanently fixed and installed within 90 days of insuring the van or it would revert to commercial insurance at the higher rate. Seems whatever extracts the most money from the client suits them best!
steveo578
Stormin Seems whatever extracts the most money from the client suits them best! I think you got it in one -this year insurance quotes seem to have gone insane -I had one from an over 50s specialist for £1400 for a standard small toyota -for none business use. Insurance companies seem only to be interested in seeing who can produce the most annoying TV ad. s.

Tony B
How insurance works is beyond me. I've had quotes on the same vehicle from £5000 to £165!
ArtistsRifles
When I went to re-insure the Stolly and OT in 2008 I was told by a certain leading broker the insurance company they used would not touch the OT and trebled the policy price on the Stolly. One phone call to another broker later both were insured for less than I paid in 2007 - and with the same insurance company!!!
