Hi All,

This is my first post on this Forum. I actually joined it in November, but promptly managed to lock myself out!

I have been reading the threads on the Forum for some time now, and thought it would be nice to be involved.

Sadly, i dont own a Military vehicle, although I am a member of the Scottish Military Vehicle Group, and I do a bit of WW2 Living History.

I am a Committee Member of the Borders Vintage Automobile Club, and am trying to build up a military show within the main car show at our annual event in the Scottish Borders. we had 22 military vehicles in 2009, so it is slowly building up.

I am a civil servant as my day job, and am married.

Thats about it.

Regards

Dave.

Hi all. Thanks for all your kind words. To answer a few of the comments/questions:

I’m pleased that some of you think that the idea of a show in this area is good. I think that Thirlestane castle with its history(Military Hospital during WWI) and its location are perfect for Military Vehicle enthusiasts from both Scotland and Northern England to meet up. I probably did see the South African spec Land Rover, but I actually was marshalling on the main drive all day(I enjoy it). I’m glad you enjoyed the show, and hope that you will be back in 2010. In fact, the more the merrier.

I do not own any classic cars either. I have owned a Wolesley 16/60 and a couple of Ford Capris. My day to day car is a fifteen year old Cavalier, almost old enough to be a classic! I hope to buy a Land rover in the not too distant future.

I am not a member of NEMVC although I do/did know a few members, Denny Thomson, The Barnes family etc. A friendly lot. I used to go down to Cragside, and Visit the DLI each year. I met Phil Webb there in 2009, and have since sent him details of the Thirlestane event. Haven’t had a reply yet, but fingers crossed.

Once again, thanks for the kind words.

Dave.
