Joris
What would the vehicle marking be for a Jeep from the 4th Dorset, 43 Wessex division? I'm taking the guess here that they had Jeeps so correct me if I'm wrong.
0 Blackpowder44
Standing in front of the jeep and looking at the windscreen, the Wessex Wyvern is on the right side and 61 on red background on left, reverse of this on rear bumpers. 0 Enigma
Not precise info but it gives a idea of the Nrs used. http://www.flamesofwar.com/Portals/0/all_images/Modelling/Markings/BritArmDivMarkings-Norm.jpg
0 Blackpowder44
I now think the background to the 61 should be green. The 4th. Dorsets were in 130 infantry brigade of the 43 rd. Wessex Div. The 130th. Brigade were the second brigade within the 43rd and therefore the background I think is green. The number 61 would be their tac. no. within that brigade. john. 0 Joris
Thanks, very informative! I would have thought that the regiments name would be painted on the vehicles too but apparently that's not the case.

Oh no, we can't have the enemy knowing who we are you know, let alone our own side! Seriously though, it is a fascinating subject.
