    I doubt that the dashboard lamp is unique to the Matador, so have you tried asking about it on other vehicle forums?     A few years ago I saw Vulcan XA903 at Wellesbourne and at the time the panel for the Olympus 593 engine dials was more empty holes than dials, so I'm sure that the owner would be pleased to hear from you.

    If there is sufficient metal in the wheel rim have you thought of machining the rim down to a clean surface then fitting a steel tyre as is done to railway wheels to produce the correct diameter for the rubber tyre? This link describes the method:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_wheel#Tire_installation I would question if leaving the rust to hold the tyres in place is really a solution to the problem, because as the vehicle is used won't the rust break up and eventually work it's way out, leading to loose tyres?

    If you have another piece of the same type of reconstituted cork, have you thought of soaking it in petrol to see how resistant it is? If it is resistant the cork should last in the tap and if not it will give you chance to find a replacement material.

    Cable ties saved the day on 2 occasions in my early Land Rover 90. 1. A number of them made a fan belt. Although it was only needed for the 4 miles to home, I'm sure that it would have lasted many more miles. 2. When the accelerator cable broke a cable tie held the throttle lever giving enough revs for a slow (10 miles) journey home.
