  1. They fixed the roof in 2010/11 with a twenty year life cycle so why so soon
  2. The inspiration for the 1968 Battle of Britain film as credited in the titles came from the book by Derek Wood and Derek Dempster the Narrow Margin published a few years earlier and subsequently republished
  3. Find it difficult to get past the opening credits
  4. Vehicles that get into W&P show (new or old) for free, I'm not sure other shows will ban them if that’s what you’re asking. Arranged transport or cost subsidies to owners of particular interesting types of vehicle have been part of the scene for as long as I’ve been attending shows from the first in 74 to present
  5. not sure which or any of the categories I fall into as at the moment I don't own a ex-military vehicle. I do have friends who still have quite a few (eighteen or so between them all ww-2) who like me are advancing none to gracefully into old age. As I am the youngest at sixty eight they show a few vehicles at shows that appeal, not always the big shows just the ones where you can enjoy yourself meet longtime friends as well as make new ones. I usually drive one, I also insured one and along with the owners maintain and restore those vehicle as yet unfinished which is my interest. Vehicle information at shows is just an A-4 sheet stating what it is, who used it, points of interest left somewhere on the vehicle. Sometimes we use the services of a low loader as cost wise saves our bones shorter jurnes we drive what do we avoid wan-a-be experts whose knowledge is at best questionable - be tolerant - enjoy ourselves - curse the big green ex-army tent every time it's put up and taken down but most of all enjoy our weekly fix of working on ex-military vehicle older than me
  6. Welcome an interesting collection shame you class the English and East Europeans as “thieves and unprofessional types” still it’s your opinion welcome none the less from England
  7. When is it supposed to be happening - war and peace I mean ?
  8. Welcome nothing wrong with a midlife crisis - enjoy the M-38
  9. Not sure this helps – take a look at woolisetrim web site www.woolies-trim.co.uk
  10. Again I agree with Gaz44, I look forward to seeing the results of the new editor’s influence within CMV, as windscreen has improved under its new editor. One a commercial operation so required to be profitable the other a club magazine supported by membership fees
  11. As above on a QL-T I owned I skimmed the manifold and head ports did the valves new gaskets ( no sealant – my choice)
  12. ESSEX – HMVA show Military and Flying Machines 2017 is moving to a new location near Maldon Essex
  13. Agree, it's not a patch on what it was while windscreen has improved into a half decent mag - there is always hope I suppose
  14. If you'd like the contract numbers perhaps you can say if they relate to FFR or not
  15. Not wishing to contradict anyone the Chilwell 'B' Vehicles W.D. Numbers List 1944 contains several Contracts issued to Bedford for "Truck 15cwt 4x2 G.S. (Adapted for Conversion to Wireless)" possibly issued as G.S with the ability to be quickly adapted a thought
  16. I understand this rumor is attributed to the Chairman of DAS quoting an IWM statement of intent
  17. I thought the Concord was owned by the Science museum and only on loan as at the time of it's arrival the Science museum didn't have a suitable site - still sad if the LWH is demolished not sure about the vehicle show being the museum's biggest money spinner as I've been told it wasnt financially viable when the cost of additional staff was taken into account - but what do I know
  18. Sad if true, what's the plan, put DAS civil airline collection in place of vehicles, but as I've been told many times DUXFORD is an AIRFIELD so AIRCRAFT only. By the way the roof has always leaked from day one and the darkness within was for effect, make you think - enjoy while its there
  19. Just when you think you know all the answers someone proves otherwise, I'll look at our QL and OY engines and the spare ones we have
