  1. Welcome to the HMVF be careful one military vehicle invariably leads to a collection !
  2. I presently own three MV's a '43 Ford GPW, a '41 Chevrolet G-7107 cargo and a recently acquired '87 Armstrong MT500. I am lucky in that my wife shares my love of all things green and actively involves herself in club events, however we are merely custodians of these vehicles, two of them are older than me :-D and my wish is for them to be looked after and cherished for future generations to enjoy, to that end I have made my wishes known as to the future of them and my family know their monetary as well as sentimental value. If I ever have to part with them through ill health I see them partly as a farewell gift to my wife who I know will do what's best for the vehicles involved and also my bit towards preserving our hobby. One that has given me so much enjoyment and a bunch of friends I treasure.:-)
  3. I can't help you but if someone can I would be most interested. I need to get all my tyres changed on my '41 Chevy cargo and can't find one tyre place round here who will do the job ! Good luck :-)
  4. Hello and welcome to the HMVF You could try an advert in the Wanted section of the forum regarding your change of direction. Best Wishes, David
  5. Hi Adam and welcome to the HMVF, I have been involved with military vehicles since my time in the forces and have owned quite a few. At present I have a '45 Ford GPW jeep and a '41 Chevrolet G506 cargo truck. My advice would be, try to get to a few shows if at all possible and maybe join the MVT who will no doubt have a local group near you. You do not have to own a vehicle and you will meet many like minded people who will help you decide on the vehicle for you. I warn you this "green" obsession is highly addictive and most of us end up with more than one "toy" ! That said I have made some lifelong friends along the way and had some amazing times, so go for it and good luck. Best Wishes, David.
  6. Welcome to the HMVF be good to see some pictures of the BSA
  7. Hi there, I'm not sure if it is true but I was told if you intend to SPLIT the transfer box from the gearbox you should always put the gearbox in gear first ? Something to do with the bearings moving making reassembly impossible. A friend who did mine had the same problem and had to get gearbox stripped to get everything back in line :undecided: Someone here will know for sure. By the way he did mine in his garage on a trolley jack so it is possible, he may have taken the engine out first though.
  8. Welcome Tom, Series 1's are addictive I've had three the best one being an 86" RGC 515 ex Ministry of Supply which I did many happy miles in until in a moment of sheer madness and financial poverty I sold to someone who would have been better buying a sports car ! He wrote it off I believe within 3 wks of buying it by rolling it into a ditch I would love another one but prices are prohibitive now especially as I spend all my available cash on my '43 Ford GPW jeep and my '41 Chevrolet G506 cargo :-) Maybe one day I will get another series 1 funds allowing. Best Wishes.
  9. Welcome to the HMVF from another cranky old git (according to my wife) !
