  1. What sort of money is the Cortina Darren ?
  2. Welcome to the HMVF Darren, the Cortina sounds like fun with a V6 in ! I remember lusting after the Savage version when I was younger. Wish I had the money I would be after yours straight away. I have two WW2 American vehicles at present a '43 Ford GPW and a '41 Chevrolet G 7107 cargo truck. Also had loads of American stuff a '46 Caddy , '66 T bird , '55 Ford F100 stepside , '78 Chevy Impala etc. All the best :-)
  3. Thanks for the post, truly amazing and a very brave man flying where he did totally unarmed ! The look on his face when he saw the film for the first time was priceless :-)
  4. Welcome to the HMVF Roberto your English is just fine :-)
  5. I too was emailed to say this event has been cancelled. I am pretty sure that is the case something to do with the National Trust not wanting it, it's a great shame as it was a great show and nice surroundings too.
  6. I don't know about your case but I have had several run ins with my local DVLA office over registering various vehicles. It pays to keep your cool and try to talk to the manager. I know they can turn difficult as once I actually rang Swansea while I was in my local DVLA office regarding a problem Swansea agreed with me but the local office refused to talk to them ! To say I was speechless was an understatement  Hate to say this but things are going to get a lot worse as all the regional offices are closing this year and then everything will have to go through Swansea so expect long delays, lots of automated answerphone messages and big phone bills ! At least in the local office you get to argue with a real person :undecided:
  7. A great actor and perfect in the role of the bossy ARP warden, RIP Bill and thanks for the memories.

    Boots

Regarding driving in DMS and puttees I drove thousands of miles in them without a problem during my time as a regular, including several long trips from W Germany to the Outer Hebrides in an AEC Militant. Like all footwear your feet have to get used to them but breaking them in is all part of the fun :-D If you source a new pair just get plenty of polish into them which helps soften the leather up and build up your time wearing them, as someone said earlier they are plentiful on ebay so getting the right size will be easy enough.
