  3. l have been helping a young man with a very abused ferret l have been able to help with bits and practical hands on at weekends l have managed to get it running and and replaced the some of the missing parts but now need three SPUR GEAR WHEELS for the last wheel hub . Has any of the forum members got some they are willing to sell . l have also emailed the known dealer's and am willing to buy new are good used ones WITH REGARDS WALLY
  4. l have found the whole subject of the battle of the SCHELDT most interesting for personal reasons as my fathers war ended in the town of MIDELBURG thanks to a German mortar he recalled that been showered by cobles when the rounds hit the tops of the dykes. I took him back and he stood in front of tower in the center of the town and we stayed in the hotel opposite across the square

A number of International half track which remained in service after 1949 had the numbers in the series 52 YZ 46 TO 67 YZ 19 and also numbers 76 ZC 01 TO 81 ZC 12 these are recorded on the number two key cards held at the RLC MUSEUM the chassis numbers appear on these cards they ( should have a number of the ZA cards} these may have gone to the tank museum

  7. There where three contracts for the AEC DEACON the first was contract TM12445 which was for one vehicle the prototype chassis number 0853400 registration number S89078 . The second contract was in two parts contract TM11625 . chassis numbers 08533999 to 0853/4001-149 registrations numbers S88428 to S88577 for 150 vehicles second part was for 25 vehicles chassis numbers 08534150 to 8534186 registration numbers F89079 to F89103 .The third contract VM11373 was for 210 vehicles chassis numbers 08534362 to 08534571 registration numbers S89104 to S89313 these contracts were signed on the 14-2-42
  8. THERE was most of one at the museum of army transport it was recovered from DUNCOMBE PARK during WW2 the park was home to a number of armoured units as well as ROYAL ENGINEERS who built a number of bridges in the park. Where or what happened to it l cannot say but l have a idea

  10. if l remember rightly JSCS was joint supply chain services which was based at ASHCHURCH which also was a central vehicle depot and held them for allocation to units sorry l forgot to reply to the other part l have not come across UK XX before but bovington may have the 419 A history card which may shed more light on it's history
  11. the data plate only refers to repairs carried out merlin reports show detail of were it was allocated to like 211 signals squadron

  13. It's some time since i posted but with the present spell of bad weather and the need to clean out the items still in the back of the workshop before it's enlarged all of the attached are things that l have been involved with in years past and kept or where given to me

Besides catalogues and manuals l also have collected military models today while clearing the over spill shed out this has now seen the light of day for the first time in years the glass cabinet it five feet long x two feet wide by fifteen inches high and contains seventy plus models of ships and vehicles that were on D-DAY to be seen down to a jeep These models were commissioned by SIR PATRICK WALL MP who commanded a gun fire support vessel on D-DAY as a officer in the royal marines who in civilian life had one of the largest private model collections in the UK .It was rumoured that he had a second model of this made for LORD MOUNTBATTEN but this has never been confirmed. This now has to go and will be put into the local auction as it should be seen sorry for the poor quality of the photographs

On the lines of theory the plate states date of delivery not manufacture like a lot of armies post war some vehicles were held in war reserve so it could have been released in to service in 1952 as there was a supply shortage because of the war JAPAN sent vehicles to KOREA at the request of the American government
