Found this interesting link on another WWII site the , ww2 dodge forum . and thought is was important to share it here . a few shots of turret training with turrets mounted on 1.5 ton Chevy's and there is a shot of a phone repair truck , a 3/4 Dodge I have never seen before . Also a number of shots of Hollywood stars entertaining the troops.Enjoy the great photo's . http://aafcollection.info/items/documents/000001-01-00.pdf if you on a dial up connection it may take a while to download as its a 8.88mb pdf file , It will be worth the wait! another link to the stories of two WWII American flyers http://aafcollection.info/memorial.html
  10. How do they load the trailer ??? is it load the truck first and then slide it on to the trailer ? or ?? I m sure the most stressful time watching the loading is when the cargo body is at its steepest angle , and your thinking is it securly anchored enough and did you set the brake !! just before they lower it on to the chassie.
  11. Just the same Keep an eye out for it and keep in touch with your friends there just incase they ever do decide to part with it !
  12. Well done and when you get that one finished you will be an expert on how to install those repro. tubs . I m sure others doing simular restorations will be very interested in your experiances. They should at least provide you with all the cuppa's when you visit them .
  13. Nice to have that extra helping hand of the tele-a-lifter ? Not having to deal with the limits of a simple chain hoist and three legged stand .
  14. Never known any government that wont gladly TAX you . If they will let you play with it is a whole different story .Keeping finger crossed that you will soon be on the road with it .
  15. Given the state of both projects I d say the Scammell would be easier do to its completeness or present state of assemble ??? seems they both need a sound roofing overhead job ! Truly you will be doing the other stone by stone!!!! to bad the Scammell doesnt have a bigger crane to assist in lifting those stones. Will you be doing further dismanteling of the ruins before you will be able to begain rebuilding??? Do you have to keep the outside appearance historically correct ? or are other limits to what you can and cant do ???
  16. Very nice Junkers 52 , I guess the other photo of the red and white jet at the portaloo's was due to the aircraft little pilots call of nature before the show ?? hehehe
  17. That is provided you have it switched on and that it has not been knocked off by some low branch while getting into the hedge in the first place ......really though people often are not seeing whats in the road ahead....they may be looking for a oncoming car or the rear of a car only they zone out on the rest .....Over here people have sometimes driven straight into the side of moving trains at grade level crossings claiming they never saw the train!!! hence the only safe train/ car crossing is where the two never meet as in a bridge or tunnel , bells , lights and crossing barriers dont work .
  18. I d say its an American shop body . At least its not been scrapped yet , so there is still hope it might be saved for restoration someday .... You never know when or where you will come across a bit of OD these days !!
  19. Thanks for doing that Safiswing !!! it would be a shame to have all those photo's lost !!!
  20. Welcome to the Friendly Forum , seems you have struck a nerve with your Beautifully made tank . Mind when you park it in the club house parking lot you don't run over any of the bicycles laying about ! and make sure you stop off in the bar and have a chat with the rest of the Group, As they will fill you in on the many chores that have to be done by the newest members until such time other new members join up and replace you.
  21. Vehicles like the DUKW and many recent post war Vehicles which have central hub inflation systems that let the operator adjust the tire pressure on the move , lower pressure for sand and soft condition's and re-inflate for paved road and or to keep a leaking tire inflated until it can be changed .
  22. I m guessing the other system will be a digital Projector running dvd's from a portable dvd player ?
