  1. Thank You , never would have guess !!
  2. Welcome to the HVMF Forum . Glad Y-O-U took a chance on Us . ownership of a Military Vehicle is not required , It is a family friendly group , and as said before where will we be without new young blood ???? Its true most of the members tend to believe in the here after as in entering a room or going to the garage and asking ones self "what and I here After !!! " LOL
  3. Looking Great , What is the access hatch's on the sides of the rear body for ?
  4. A great adventure that would be simular to the group that has saved a WWII Liberty cargo ship the "John Brown " who use the vessel as a moving museum taking people out for a day trip with re-inactors dressed in uniform and some times use the ships equipment to load a couple of WWII vehicles to show how it was done .
  5. There was a book written about the R-101 titled " The airman who would not die" written by John g. Fuller sbn 399-12264-8 1979 It details all the problems and delays of the construction of the airship the conflits of the engineers and the plans to fly the airship before it was ready for its fatal trip and the details of its crash from the evidence of the wreckage and through the words of psychic's whos statements of events its said could be confirmed by the wreck and logs written by the crew.
  6. Hello Mike 16 Yes you are lucky not to have that much to do to winterize but I bet the Desert still can get pretty cold at time's ,And at least up here I need not check under or around everything outdoor's before I pick it up ...... you know those scorpions and such , too cold for them up here although there are a couple of types of poisionious snakes native to my area .
  7. Here in the States there are only 12 states I believe that have state run inspection systems and those are Yearly or bi-yearly affairs the other 38 states don't have State Inpections it's left up to the vehicle owner to keep the vehicle in good operating condition , the incentive is if involved in an accident and you have faulty equipment then you may be in hot water . This of course does not apply to Commerical Vehicles which have to pass Federal Department of Transportation checks . Having moved from a state with very tight controls on emission limits and windshield cracks < you were limited to an inch long crack if it were into the area sweeped by the wipers> some of the States require brake drums to be removed to check for wear , to a state without Vehicle inspections where some people will drive with several cracks spanning the entire width of the windshield and tires with several wear bars showing or hardly any tread on a tire or engines that you know have not been kept in tune in a long time ........Its hard to see these kinds of faults and not be bothered by them . And yes when my old State went from a yearly to a bi-yearly program it was the inspection station owners who complained the most , not about unsafe vehicles being on the road longer.... it was the loss of money until the system had been through its cycle.of course they got an increase in their fee from 25 to 40 dollars per vehicle.
  8. If only there had been a video camera there to catch the suprise/shock of that inspector not finding the controls where he expected them to be !!!:rofl::rofl::rotfl::rotfl: and the mileage they must have thought you only drove it the church each Sunday . Glad that that at least did go well .
  9. Welcome to the Forum all forms of Military Vehicles welcomed , ownership encouraged but not required . by the way there no maximum limit either .
  10. Great photo's so many items to ask about ! it would be very difficult to see someone try in the future to restore an armored Vehicle as complete as what this one is already . !
  11. correct me if I ve confused this with a different thread but did all the failures start after you connected those loose cables and had the connection to your battery spark?
  12. Thank you for the photo's , I say shes looking darn nice inside all the data and instruction plates and the seats look in good condition ....the vision blocks for the driver and rear passengers ! are all of them in good condition too?

  20. This rare 26X26 GMC variant :shake::shocked: was spoted on the WWII Dodge Site he's got quite a few rims to check out !!! I m told it pulls quite well on the open road but takes a very large area to turn around in  credit goes to Ray Spencer
  21. I have two new questions for those who have either a Ben Hur or a TM if there is one ... 1. What is the weight of a wood body Ben Hur without canvas and racks. 2. What the weight of a wood body Ben Hur is with canvas and racks. While I do have the trailer and pulled a few times with the CCKW ,I have never needed to know these details and trailer is not currently road registered so finding a public scale isnt an option . I need these weights to figure out which set of Dolly's to purchace to make moving it simplier in the garage and if I can tow the trailer with a smaller vehicle than the CCKW.
