  1. Hey you're right!!! 1/48th scale. http://armorama.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=196783&page=1&ord=0
  2. Anyone who has had to change a M type wiper motor will quite understand why people put up with these cooling off procedures for so long.....
  3. Standard Ford A rim? Plenty found their way on to farm carts.
  4. .....but you can then only legitimately use it as mobile plant.
  5. I had a read of that LR site this morning Wally. Not much in the way of a conclusion, other than it seems to be most important that you talk with your insurer and agree between you how many seats you will be covered for under your policy.
  6. Bench seating is all that most others have. Regardless of the sometimes enormous seating capacity of bigger vehicles, if you check with your insurance company they will almost certainly give you a limit of (I think) 9 (or did they tell me 7? - doh!) including driver - I think this is the point at which PSV stuff kicks in.
  7. I spent 2 hours going to the left, and never reached the end - or was it the beginning? There were loads of pics of a ministry truck dealers yard somewhere in the south - chalk cliff? Can anyone i.d. the yard / dealer?
  8. Just another anecdote on cast iron pistons: The Perkins P6 is worth a mention - the tractor engines had cast iron pistons, but the automotive (truck) engines had aluminium pistons and a significantly higher top speed. Not sure about the industrial spec engines. Efforts to increase the speed of cast iron pistoned engines to that of the automotive engine invariably met with disaster!
  9. If you work your way back and forward through this set there are some interesting Matadors and Militants as well as some amazing period truck / plant pics!
  10. I'll see what can be done - think they should be saved as a first move.
  11. These turn up occasionally in twos or fours, but look what ambushed me today! Would these be of WW1 origin or where they made later too?
  12. Good point there! Also some plastics will react to paint and thinners and melt - either quickly or very slowly!
  13. I did that Clive, with some thinned paint. I couldn't believe how long it lasted!! Must remember to collect some more jars....
  14. I dunno - CYCLONE sounds more like a toilet to me
  15. I need some firebricks (refractory or furnace bricks) to act as a heat sink / work area when welding / brazing etc on the bench. I have some bricks from old electric storage heaters - would these be suitable? Has anyone used these successfully?
  16. A mystery machine, part restored, has turned up in the Eastern Counties - no picture as yet but it is an OLIVER tractor with Waukesha engine and a mounted Brush. Appears to be in army colour. Any chance this might have been a wartime runway brush? Sounds a bit odd having a Waukesha in an Oliver?
  17. Here is the mystery vehicle from the link!
  18. Have you come across the boxed Bud Nut impact driver sets currently available from several european mv parts dealers? £25 - £50 will buy you one. Very useful - contains socket, extension bar with square female end for inner nuts, impact hammer (rotary action), torque reaction arm to allow removal of the outer nuts from the inner nuts. Highly recommended! p.s. I tighten nuts up until just before the moment they go 'bang'! :cool2:
  19. Repros of bombs dropped from planes during WW2 are not - but guess these may be classified as ordnance rather than ammo?
  20. Said bead breaker will be fine with your rubber flaps, but if the steel bead locks bands are still in place would it not be a real problem to push the beads in off the rims?
