  1. Must be cheap tyres to have a padlock on the water can, but no lock on the spare wheel :-D Have a good weekend, would like to have gone to Evesham, but too much going on here, with W&P looming.
  2. they all say that :-D Those brown cans must be rare, I see it is padlocked
  3. Look who has a bucket hanging on the back .............yes I did notice the screw, but did not like to mention it.:coffee:
  4. Tony, This one? It was on a French club campsite at Vierville.
  5. Gary, Just found this in the All American Wonder Jeep book, "adopted heavy type chassis springs, to minimize operating failures, 28th June 1944" I have a feeling that two leaves were added to rear and one to the front, could be wrong, someon on here will confim one way or another.
  6. I seem to recollect that around 1945, the number of leaves on MB / GPW was increased back and front to take the extra weight of radio equipment, etc. Had a supplement to the Jeep TM, put not to hand at present. This could answer your question and will be mean that extra long U bolts should be available as well. Try talking to the major jeep part people.
  7. Degsy, Jack did mention something about Sheep Dip..........sure you did not mix the bottles up? :-D
  8. Robert, The Tructor is still in existance, I saw it recently. It is in dry storage along with the owners other vehicles.
  9. Tim, In the last 20 years, has Steve managed to find any more parts for the lorry, in order to make another start on it?
  10. Hillman had a motif something like that on their hub caps, do not have anything to refer to, to confirm.
  11. Looks like a Ford Cargo based cab. Years ago, Ashok Leylands were based on British models, but may now be no more related to the British namesake than the BMC trucks built in Turkey are to Austin or Morris Commercial.
  12. I am pretty sure this Scammell EKA was operated by the REME District Workshop at Mill Hill. Looks like the "Bogie Blocking" is struggling to keep the front wheels down :-D
  13. Hi Champman, What Chris is trying to show you, is that your seal, MIS 50, is a standard rotary seal, and not a Tracta seal, they are different in lip profile.
  14. Jeff, From your description of the packaging, that sounds like it may have have been a Belzona product. Good stuff, providing the block is prepared and clean.
  15. Not sure that a 30 mph minimum speed could be implemented, the M25 runs below that limit daily in places
  16. Hi Rippo, No more fuel problems, but after leaving the ferry we did have the oil pipe to the oil filter fracture, depositing most of the sump contents. Luckily stopped it in time, sealed the pipe, topped up and got home alright, thanks. re. the doors, I think the pressing for QL doors was a modification of the by then, obsolete W type cab doors. No other part of a W cab appears on a QL, from what I can see.
  17. Good point Mike, could be a vee engine twin pipes
  18. hi Rippo, The pressing of the mould line on the door is similar to a QL, but I think the doors are more likely from a prewar Bedford W type, they had a vertical front edge, moulding similar, where as the QL had (fixed) quarterlights to the front of the rising window glass.
  19. hmmm......B40 exhaust manifold on port side............silencer now emitting on starboard side ........is this a clue to an engine transplant? The cunning devil has not reversed the photo, as steering wheel is still starboard
  20. Sat nav ????? !!!!!!!! I thought you lot are re-enactors, can't you read maps?
  21. Jack, The MVT were officially invited by the Mayor of Arromanches to be on the beach for the afternoon, so nearly all the vehicles parked there, were Trust members.
  22. Jack, It might have been more to do with a certain US President's visit to that area, with all the restrictions. We were on the MVT camp which was situated just in the US sector and it was easy to visit both US and British beaches......up until the 6th when road restrictions came into place. There were many encampments besides the two main British clubs and scattered right across the region.
  23. Daren, I was in the bar as they were setting up and heard someone say they were going to show "On Any Sunday". It featured motorcycle sport across the US.
