  1. Here are two for you, Paul 27 Transport Regt RLC - Aldershot HQ Support Weapons School - Warminster
  2. You find a lot of US military vehicles in Australia converted to RHD, it is because they would not register LHD vehicles, not sure if that is still the policy, may vary between states. Have come across Studebaker US6 and jeeps converted. Looking at a 2 1/2 ton M series 6x6 once and the steering column had been cut below the dash and wheel moved over, with a roller chain between them !
  3. I notice the Victoria Military Vehicle Club logo on the Dodge, have you tried contacting them? The past owner would appear to have been a member, so you might find a buyer close to home.
  4. well qualified, always seem to work in poor light :-D
  5. Read the comments on that link...........were you "writergreen"? :-D
  6. Thank you.........I did in fact think it to be the later type of layer, but a minor detail. Think I am in the wrong job, should be in CSI or Int Corps :-D
  7. Bar Minelayer on transporter trailer, with protective cover?
  8. cover over a trailer mounted trench digger?
  9. Thanks, that has given me a size to work on :-D
  10. My thoughts exactly, John. We looked after Fodens and Scammells with 290 and 305 engines, awful smokers. When Perkins took over, they re-engineered the Eagle and made major improvements, the Perkins 350 Eagle in DROPS and S26 was a far better engine. Lets face it, Perkins had far more experience in building diesels than RR.
  11. That is because the link you quoted was for the 2008 event :coffee:
  12. I may be wrong, but I thought this event was to be based on an existing one called Maiden Newton At War? Last held in 2008
  13. Apparantly a copy of the one on Stuart tanks by same author, was sold on Ebay recently at £1,800
  14. Hello Bob, Here is another one from Kent.........at Ashford, so that covers all points of the compass.
  15. We stayed there in 1985, the pub was near Saffron Walden from memory, might have been called Woodmans Arms (?). The show day it rained all day, worst journey home I ever had riding my M20. The pub was heaving with MV owners on Sat night
  16. Our group has been doing this for years, when you number 12 to 15, the cost is acceptable for a week, no queing or hiking across the site and you know it is clean, just remember to lock it as everyone will be in there. No different to those bringing caravans using their own facilities.
  17. Not all multifuel engines will run on petrol or a petrol mix. My recollection of the Bedford MK was that it was only designed for diesel or aviation kerosene (AVTUR) to be used. There may be other makes of engine like this also.
  18. I guess he means those you have entered your vehicle in. In the past I have entered many good events and not all military specific.
  19. The first few North Weald Fighter Meets were magic too. And the annual shows at Southsea Common............not forgetting West Malling Airshows. Those were the days .......
  20. Was not me, I hasten to add, you should have seen the look on the guys face :-D
  21. There were emergency phone numbers for on-site fire and ambulance facilities in the booklet that came with your entry details for W&P, these were monitered 24hrs a day thoughout the show.
  22. Clive, I well remember back in the Stourpaine days at GDSF, they had what was like a big portable shed parked over a large hole in the ground, a bit disconcerting when using it, because of the delay before hearing the s**t hit the bottom :-D. H&S put paid to that sort of thing. Another classic one was many years ago at the Air Fair when it was held at Greenham Common airbase ( before the missiles were there ), the Gents was a large circular hessian screen, there was a queue to get in, once in you were confronted with a large hole in the ground and everyone standing around it, some desperate guy ran in, and had to be grabbed from falling in :shake: Things have improved, but it is how people treat the facilities.
  23. You could try running it from a test tank that you know is clean, connected straight to the pump. Another rather common problem with similar symptoms is a blown head gasket between No.2 and 3 cylinders, and No 4 and 5. Easily checked with a compression guage.
