  1. I'll post some pictures of Force 135 markings, then print onto magnetic paper.
  2. Ah yes Mon V! Though also the 70 anniversary of the Vega as well. I have two boxes off her that were issued to Carol's Grandparents. Ricky in the 'Proper Island' has managed to get 20% discount of Condor so worth asking for that when booking.
  3. Joy of things like Grandkids and Nephew's? You can wind them up , then hand them back.
  4. Park that many on the Island it 'll sink! Best ever vido for Gurnersey tourism
  5. As for the yougest, maybe my Grandaughter Ruby? Seven months old, owned a Dodge WC54 Ambulance 'Katy' since her birth. Son can have the WC51 when I'm gone but Katy stays with the Female Line!
  6. A lot of leather webbing was produced in 1914/15 to equip the new Kitchener armies as there was a shortage of cotton webbing. This was due to the cotton webbing being a commercial design and could only be woven on one set of looms, those of the Mills Eqipment company. The leather 1914 pattern leather was made in UK and scourced from US. It was not intended for front line use originally. The webbing be came looked on as a mark of Caine and was dumped for 08 pattern at the first oppertunity. Unfortunatley there are also a lot of copies about.
  7. Welcome in. We loke all sorts of special purpose trucks. Can you post some pictures of your engines?
  8. Ouch! No lifes thankfully, but still a hell of hit.
  9. I have both a 12 volt Dodge and a 6 Volt Dodge. Rules are the same for both, keep your earths clean and tight! Fix connections to earth and starter with toothed anti shake washers. Current flows on the surface of a conductor, and as Volts X Amps = Watts a 6 volt requiers double the amps, so ideally double the surface area of the condutor. Both mine have Frank Jolley's electronic igntion units fitted, that has improved them more than anything.
  10. Hill 60 was one of a series of twenty one mines dug before the 3rd Battle of Ypres, aka Passchendale. Ninteen were blown, two had been abandoned. One went off in June 1955 following a lightning strike, the other is still lurking out there. Some claim the noise in 1917 was heard in Dublin. There is an intresting bit in the writing of one of the firing officers. 'Watches were issued the night before. I was told to allow thirteen seconds beyond firing time'.
  11. I think the top one is something to do with IUKADGE, Improved United Kingdom Air Defence Ground Enviroment project.
  12. Look on the face of oncoming drivers, priceless!
  13. In camping and Tilley lamps it is the mantle that produces the light. The material is covered in Thorium Dioxide, other use for it is lining nuclear reactors, when the gas/vapour is burned inside the mantle it glows. That is why a Tilley lamp is so much brighter than a straight Hurricane lamp.
  14. Saying it Veeery quietly , for once DVLA have got something right.
  15. Welcome Colin. You sound just the sort of person the Forum likes.
  16. Keep going Rick. Best wishes for an improving New Year.
  17. You can now do 'Taxing' of Historic Vehicles on line. But where is says Do you have an MOT, tick yes, even if the vehicle is exempt.
  18. Welcome along Tim. Your knowledge will be very useful. We often drive over ground that has a history under it, the knowledge of how to read that adds to the fun.
