    One thing that might help. You are now entitled to free eye tests. Go to a good commercial optician, they can ofetn get things done faster.

    Thanks Richard, couldn't think of earlier name. The Ministry of Avation, or Air Ministry was famous in weather forcasts for the 'Air Ministry Roof'. Originally it was what now the South part of MOD Main Building in Whitehall.

    Farnbourough and companies such as BAE, did , and do have have Military spec vehicles for evaluation and use. If it was attached to DERA Farnbourough then it would have been supplied through the MOD system. The Royal Navy had their own purchasing and used straight civillian vehicles.

I wuz dragged up Imperial! :cool2: Though in the good old days I was towing a Rice Farmers Hunt trailer 18 cwt unladen, with two big horses, say another Imperial ton, with a 240 Volvo 2.3 auto estate. I was on the M4 (Luckly) Thought I was making god time but transmission was getting hot. Then looked at the speedo 95mph!! Learnt an important lesson, watch speed when towing!

    Trouble with old vehicles are the exceptions. If a 'new' part, such as flashing indicators are fitted, then they must work and comply with regulations.

    I know with bus companies the Insurance brockers don't actually become involved unless a claim is higher than £500,000

    Isn't the norm that a trailer when fully laden must not exceed the kerb weight of a vehicle, unless the Manufacturer declares it as a towing vehicle? Bear in mind the max tow of 50mm ball is three ton.

    No you dont. I have just changed keeper and SORNed a LWB Landy in this situation. Got back a letter from DVLA saying I didn't need to SORN it.

    I'd go with NOS. That's what I do with the Dodge. She goes to my friendly neighbourhood garage they check all the vital bits.

    SORN'ed the LWB 2A I've just aquired . Got a letter back from DVLA saying it hadn't been on the road for about ten years and I didn't need to SORN it! :???
