  1. Thank Gordon wil you? Theres a lot of intresting stuff in them . The Antar was obviously a scource of great pride.
  2. Yes, when can dates be fixed, some of us have to book holidays a year in advance.
  3. Hey don't forget the soft skins! I hope to have both the WC51 Ruby and I hope Katy the WC54 there.
  4. Well I phoned Breens to find out where Southern was, and said I be along. Breens e mailed Southern saying I was coming. Southern measured the NOS shoe I took in, phoned Breen's and got the quote. Talk about customer service! I am deeply impressed by all of them. Next trip is to take in all the fuel line bits and grease nipples to get replacments.
  5. Just seen a new Dettol advert on TV. With a Dodge in the background! Didn't quite catch which one as wasn't expecting it.
  6. The real joy would be, if the instuments are original, is to back into an aircraft.
  7. Being cheecky, you haven't got dimensions for the doors have you? I a complete waste of space with wood. :flowers:
  8. What about the two guys who have Just Jane? http://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/history/history-of-the-lancaster.htm
  9. NOT Duxford for a start! They have been very uncivil to long term loaners of vehicles. There is a beautiful little museum at Shoreham in Kent. http://www.shoreham-aircraft-museum.co.uk/ Also at Headcorn, the Lashden Air Warfare Museum. These are two small musuems run beacuse the people who do it want to.
  10. Reply from Thompson's tech people. Thank you for your enquiry. However, the formula was changed on the Water Seal and the new formula is not suitable for use on any materials. It is only suitable for brickwork, stone work. I am sorry to say we no longer have a product suited to your requirements. I regret to be of little assistance on this occasion. Saddelery shops do sell waterproffer in bulk for canvas horse rugs.
  11. Well at least we have difinitivley answered one question! :-D Wish I'd know about Southern Componets before, they had the bits I needed to make up fuel lines for the Onan and 24 volt system on the wall! :banghead:
  12. About the same, less P&P. But the N.O.S. ones are rivited and old spec, so probably asbestos linings.Give Breen's their due, they did say it is possible to the job cheaper but they use very high quality material. Seeing the size of some of the stuff they keep in stock I'd trust their judgment. I only want to do the job once, so I'd rather pay a bit more for best quality stock. I also saw the effect of Asbestos on a friend so I would REALLY like to avoid contact with the stuff. Incidentally they rate the lining at 4.8 mm
  13. The South East I suppose. Trouble is the carraige on the things is phonomenal.
  14. Based at Unit 9 Acorn Industrial Park Crayford Road Dartfor Kent DA1 4AL. Went in this morning to see about Dodge shoes be relined, they are agents for E.F. Breen in Maidstone. Cor! Like an Alladins cave! Bags of stuff like brass fuel line fittings, grease nipples and very helpful. They deal with plant and commecrcials as well as classic and ordinary cars.
  15. Right, next stage in the saga. I took the brake shoes over to Southern Componets Group in Dartford this morning. What an Alladins Cave! But more later. They are agents for E.F. Breen at Maidstone http://www.efbreen.co.uk/Frictionworkshop.html Both lots couldn't have ben more helpful. Quote for them is £25.80 per shoe inc. VAT. Breens are capable of relining just about any size.
  16. Right , ventured into the local Hombase. There were two Thompsons water seal on display, the 'New Improved' and the Ultra. BOTH say do not use on Artifical or manmade fibres or natural rubber. (Though surley any artifical fibre is manmade?)There is available in aresol a Thompson fabric and leather proofer. So I'm going to send some scurrying electrons off to Thompson's and ask if the fabric proofer is available in larger tins.
  17. Stick in a plastic bag, fill with carb cleanear and leave for a bit.
  18. Easy way, I'll get some later today. Need it for another job, and try on a piece of scrap canvas.
  19. You were also asking about throttle return spring wern't you? Maybe something in the carb?
  20. No, real canvas is cotton. Apparently Oil Cloth was originally treated with linseed oil. Might be useful if you wish to 'paint' canvas as linseed oil was used as a paint base.
  21. May not be a bad thing. Lots of other canvas waterproofers for animal rugs are waterbased.
  22. Welcome sweet heart! Are you thinking of showing in uniform then?
