Bernard has far to much time on his hands! His design for an Air Assualt Robin does not seem to be going to well.
  11. Absolute joy around here on Christmas Eve! What bus routes wern't on diversion for fallen trees were dodging water and obsticales. To cap it all about 14:30 all trains out of Victoria and Charing Cross were stopped at Orpington. Must have been 7 or 8 hundred people mulling about, having been helpfully told 'Buses are honuring your tickets'. So a number of very upset people demanding 'Take me to Brighton!'.
  12. DON'T know Chertsey? :wow: Used to be known as MVEE Military Vehicle Enginnering Establishment. Design and testing of vehicles and famously the Chobham Armour used on British Tanks. .

  17. Richard, there eveidence tucked away in the London Transport Musuem Archive that a number, around 100 if I remember , X types were available and sent over to France with LGOC drivers in September /October 1914 for use with the Royal Marines expeditionary force to Antwerp on the 3rd October 1914. The subsequent withdrawl led to some vehicles being captured by German forces. Most of the paperwork is various letters cablegrams and odd memos. Seems to have been almost a spur of the moment thing. in the book First Men in Tanks, can't remeber the full title, it mentions a couple having boiler plate fitted. Post some pictures of your beast!
