  1. I still think I'd like a Ben Hur towed behind, even though it makes the Dodge a bit more thirsty, after all I'm Norwegian and we've got plenty of oil... Thanks for good advice though! I also think my avatar is working again!? Marty
  2. To buy a deactivated or replica is to expensive! So I'm thinking about building one myself. Since this will be covered up it doesn't have to be that accurate. Thought about building it out of some pieces of wood and a broomstick with some metal attached to it. Could someone help me out with the size/ measurement of both the barrel and "box"? Marty
  3. Hope everyone gets well soon! Luckily it's not very often we see our green friends involved in accidents. I do belive that most of us are good drivers and drive safely. Let's continue with that! Marty
  4. A truely awsome machine you've got there! I feel big in traffic in my Dodge, that is until I run into someone like you... Nice photo! Fun if you posted more! Have a great season! Marty
  5. I guess this was an event to celebrate liberation day in Holland. Looks like a nice day, we're just about to have our liberation day. May 8th! Marty
  6. Hmmm... Looking at a Ben Hur for sale now! I gotta say i sure looks good. Gotta look into transport from seller to it's new home... Marty
  7. Yep, these are stills from postwar movies. The first is from "the big red one" and the second is "wheels of terror". Both filmed in eastern europe, which explains the vehicles being russian. Marty
  8. What kind of tanks are these? Some kind of russian I guess... http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/martylee74/WinDVD2007-04-0913-40-33-78.jpg[/img] http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/martylee74/WinDVD2007-04-0912-52-00-84.jpg[/img] Marty
  9. I went to a local gunstore the other day to look at some of his toys. He's been collecting ww2 stuff since he was a kid. He has most of it at his home, which I will visit later. In the store the most intresting thing he has is perhaps a drop container picked up locally. Photo below. But he also told me that he knew of a containers which landed in lakes and never were picked up. I didn't think much about it at that time, but afterwards I started thinking it would be cool to raise one of these! Of course it would belong to the state, and we'd have to be careful since it might contain explosives. What I really wonder about is if it has survied until now? Or just a bucnh of rusty crap. I guess they were packed in waerproof material in case they landed in snow or water!? Does anyone know? I think a few of these would look wonderful in the back of my Dodge! :-D http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/martylee74/IMG_1443.jpg[/img] http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/martylee74/IMG_1440.jpg[/img] Marty
  10. Now I've had it for a few days and have been watching several of the movies and documentaries. Some of the movies are good, other movies seems a bit silly. But the documentaries were a big suprise. Never seen any of the before, and some even of areas I didn't know of such as the Aleutian Islands. Also some nice footage of "Operation Strangle" Might be even more since I've just started watching the collection. I can recommend this one! Marty
  11. Lately I've been buying war movies just to see if there's any mvs in them. So far I've ended up with some huge collections as a 50 movie pack war movie and a pack of 5 british movies. Since most of these are old movies there's a lot of real war hardware in them. I also have the MASH movie. Ther's a scene there with two Dodges travelling together. One wc series and one of the later types. That's the higlight for me! Marty
  12. So here I go again with the kitchen gear. I just found something intresting for the food lovers among us. Or at least I think it is. There's something called "outfit, cooking, small detachment" that I belive to be a smaller portable field kitchen. Does anyone have experience with this? I found it at http://www.norman-d-landing.com/index2.htm Marty
  13. Project is now officially scrapped! Tried my luck over at MLU and they could tell me that it is probably something heavier than a cwt 15. More likely a F60 or a FGT, because of the heavy front axle. A guy there also pointed out that the rear axle is bolted to the chassis. What I will do is try to find out more about the vehicle, who's the owner and the history of the vehicle. As for my first project I'll probably go for a Jeep... Thank you all! Marty
  14. Thank you guys! It is a Ford, since the panel says Ford Canada, no doubt there! As for the lenght of the vehicle it seems a bit short yes. Even too short for being a recovery vehicle which have been pretty common here in Norway. Timber tug was mentioned, which it might very well have been used as. My thoughts about the project have changed a bit since yesterday. When I run into one of these I get this feeling that anything is possible and so on. I've had the night since and reading your comments a feel a bit different, but will still do some more research on the subject. First I'll find out if there's a owner. Then I'll try to find out a bit about the histry of the vehicle. If it has been used as a timber tug or recovery vehicle. Will also post on CMP to hear their opinon, but as mentioned here it looks perhaps a donor vehicle. Thanks again! Marty
  15. Ok, I'll start with admitting that I'm technical disabled. But I know I have other skills to make up for the lack of that one, so that doesn't bother me... :-D But recently I discovered a wreck in forrest that would be fun to restore. But before I buy it, I'd like to know if this is a hopeless case or something that is possible to make. I'll post some photos below and would like your opinion on the project. As far as I can tell there's rust, but mostly on the surface. The engine is lacking. Looks like it has been in a collision, but with a hammer and plenty of time I'd think you could get those plates straight again!? And what one more question... What is this? It's a canada Ford, but what kind? Does anyone have a photo of it and could pm it to me? http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/martylee74/IMG_1425.jpg[/img] http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/martylee74/IMG_1432.jpg[/img] http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/martylee74/IMG_1434.jpg[/img] http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w197/martylee74/IMG_1435.jpg[/img] I don't even know if it's hard to replace the missing parts. Any advice will be apriciated! Marty
  16. Break easy or not! I'm going for a Sten just to have something to arm myself with while playing with the kid. He has all these cool guns so now I want one as well. :-D Marty
  17. Thanks for the link! Had a look and I've decided to become a carpenter! :-D At least for a little time. Let's see how many I need to fill up the back of the Dodge... ehhh... with my skills that would take me about a lifetime or two... :-o But at least I'm going to try! Looks good in your jeep Jessie. A nice way to hide some modern stuff! Marty
  18. Next time I'm in Britain I'm visiting some museums as well, not only concerts anymore! Looks ike a lot of great museums around. Marty
  19. First of all, thank you for wonderful photos. With nice surroundings as well. Second, I kinda have to agree with Joris on the tops on the Dodges. Still the Dodges look great with their tops up too! I notice that one of the jeeps have a couple of wooden crates in the back. I have plenty of space in the back of both the Dodge and the trailer, so I thought I'd make me some crates. Would it be possible to get a close up of one of these? If you have... Marty
  20. A nice one indeed! Hope you have a lot of fun in it, this summer! As for myself I'm still thinking about it... Marty
  21. That's a mighty fine truck you got there. I'm always impressed by heir apperance. Good to know there's a few around just in cas esome of our trucks won't go any further... :-D And that' s a big welcome to you! Marty
  22. I really liked the terrain in the shots. looks great, which your vehicle also does! Marty
  23. I'm looking at a 50 movie pack with war movies, but I can't really say that I've heard of any of these. Does anyone know if they're any good? Movies: The Avenger Yellowneck Three Came Home War Head The Devil's Cavaliers The Mark of the Hawk Escape from Angola The Proud and the Damned The Torch Paulette Hell in Normandy The Adventures of Tartu Captain Scarlett The Last Chance The Bushwackers Kansas Pacific Blood on the Sun Flying Blind Eagle in a Cage The Big Lift This Is the Army Go For Broke Gung Ho Documentaries: December 7, 1941 Divide and Conquer Desert Victory The Great Battle of the Volga The Nazis Strike Attack in the Pacific Attack! The Battle for New Britain After Mein Kampf Lawrence Nuremberg Trials The Secret Life of Adolf Hitler The Battle of China The Battle of Russia The Battle of Britain The Battle of San Pietro Combat America Prelude to War Payoff in the Pacific True Glory Tunisian Victory The KGB Connections Report from the Aleutians The Stilwell Road Submarine Warfare The Memphis Belle Thunderbolt To the Shores of Iwo Jima Appointment in Tokyo Marines at Tarawa-Return to Guam It's pretty inexpensive too. I'm mostly looking for some old military vehicles when I buy these. Marty
