  1. I was about to post a few screen shots of a movie I've seen, when I started wondering whether it's allowed or not. It's a review of a movie for the movie topic. It'll include borth source and some nice remarks. Is it okay to post a few shots? Or better link to official website if available? Marty
  2. On the morning of april 9th 1940, Norway was invaded by german forces. The great warship Blücher was sank by coast artillery near Drobak, Oslo. Paratroopers landed around the southern part of Norway Sola, Stavanger and at Fornebu, Oslo both airfields. The norwegian army Norway made good resistance in some areas. Especially northern part of Norway and Valdres. An british intervention force came to Aandalsnes and met german forces together with the remaining norwegian forces at Dombaas and Kvam. The british were lacking equipment and were beaten down. The king and goverment escaped to england, where they stayed until the war ended in 1945. This is what I remember at the moment. Marty
  3. And a very good job you've done too! :-D Looks good! Marty
  4. I've been looking at this photo daily ever since it first was posted here. Of course I'm looking at the Dodges with all their equipment. What has caught my eye the last days are the deep water frding kits installed. They look really cool on the overloaded trucks. I know that they were a lot of work since you also had to rud some sticky grease thing on all the wires. But I think it would be cool to recreate the looks with a snorkel on the truck. Nut can they be found? Marty
  5. I hope that the next photos I post won't include snow or my Dodge, like the 200 previous photo. Sorry Joris! :-D Marty
  6. I know I've seen photos of previous events somewhere. Does anyone know where? I thought I'd send a mail to the local railroad museum. Marty
  7. I recently found this link on an other forum, sorry for cheating! ;-) http://www.axishistory.com/ But I really like this one, even though it's only german stuff. It has links to many museums around the world with german stuff in their collection. I find this list of museums very helpful. So now I expect Jack & Joris to make a database with all museums and collections in the world. Shouldn't take you long, should it? Anyway, I liked this website. Marty
  8. That did really look like a lot of fun! What is it that you were driving? Too bad you didn't catch the quad in front! Marty
  9. Looks really great! We have a couple of these old railroads here in norway as well. Would be fun to arrange something like your show here. Thanks for the idea! Have a great day! Marty
  10. I'm adding some snow to this thread... Photos taken today april 7th. The vehicle you've seen a thousand times, but still it's the only one I have. Marty
  11. It's not like it's -22 all year, we do have summer too! And it gets hot then, that's why I bought the WC51. But I guess it might be worse persuading her to travel to norway because of some military vehicles!? Although she would get to see the nature... Marty
  12. I'm taking the Dodge to work that day!!! Liked the idea! Landing craft sounds good! Marty
  13. Tracks are cool! :-D There are a few BV202 around. You also have some older stuff. My neighbour had a Weasel, but sold it a few years ago. That was before I got to know him. The good thing is that he kept the Jeep. I was looking at a Weasel rebuilt with a Toyota 2,2 diesel engine this winter, but this is a bit too complicated for me. I just wanna drive'em! Marty
  14. Really nice! are you sure those pics weren't taken in 1940-45??? Very nice turret art, not too fancy. I guess that makes it most realistic. I don't mind it if you post any more photos! Not at all! hint-hint. Marty
  15. If you like the scenery so much you better come for a visit! I have some friends in Doesburg who come here a couple of times a year. Marty
  16. Thank you for the support Ian. One thing is sure, I'm not selling the Dodge. After all that was my first car. And prefer it to the jeep, but they are real easy to drive, and park and so on! Well see! Right now it's the wc62/63 I'm dreaming of! Marty
  17. Here's the two last photos of this trip. The vehicles are Alvis, Reo M-35, Reo M-35, GMC, 1952 & 54 canadian GMCs. 44 Ford Jeep and two 42 WC51s. And The last one a Volvo BV202. http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/4181/img1252uu8.th.jpg[/img] http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/9268/img1255ur8.th.jpg[/img] Marty
  18. http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/9074/img1231ys3.th.jpg[/img] Ok, what's special about this picture? Can you read the street sign? I guess you didn't know there's a road to America from Norway!? :-) Amerikavegen = Way to America. Marty
  19. Today we were joined by my neighbour with son and friend in a 44 Ford Jeep. We went for ride with the two Dodges. A guy we know always have some intresting stuff standing in the yard, and it's always something new and different from the previous visit. And no disappointment this time either. When we arrived he was parking his Volvo BV202, we stopped for a look and a chat... http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/6210/img1216by1.th.jpg[/img] http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/5138/img1218jx9.th.jpg[/img] http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/3047/img1219fg5.th.jpg[/img] http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/7308/img1220iv9.th.jpg[/img] http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/5783/img1221gd0.th.jpg[/img] http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/3619/img1222rh8.th.jpg[/img] http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/2514/img1226ys8.th.jpg[/img] Marty
  20. Inspired by members of this forum and great weather, I simply had to get the Dodge on the road. The calender shows that we are 14 days ahead of last year. Both Dodges started without any problems even though the batteries had been in the vehicles thru the winter. Coldest tempratures this winter was 22 below. http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/4379/img1213wv7.th.jpg[/img] http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/4765/img1214tf5.th.jpg[/img] Marty
  21. I think Norway has pretty much the same rules as the Netherlands. I think that they add 75 kilos for each driver/ passenger. My thought was that if the wc62/63 weighs in at 3349 and register it as a two seater, which they are only to happy to do, since having passangers in the back isn't very popular. Then the total would be 3495 and I'd be allowed to drive it! Since this is a veteran/ historic vehicle it's not supposed to carry any cargo, also restrictions on distance to be driven each year. This makes perfect sense, doesn't it? And that's probably why it won't be allowed. I'm pretty naive, am I not!? Better start thinking of buying a jeep instead. Marty
  22. Didn't work for me either, until I copied it into the browser. Then it worked, and looked absolutely fantastic. Marty
  23. Recreate? What if we all join in??? I can offer two wc51s... We'd probably get all the vehicles, but the ships might be a bit worse. Marty
  24. I spot a Dodge!!! I gotta get that car out from winter parking soon! Marty
