  1. I guess I would agree with you. The less the better! If I had the radio installed this summer, it wouldn't have made my moving that easy. We filled up two Dodges, a Chevy Blazer and a unknown japanese vehicle tha night before we were going to move. The next morning we drove straight in and had everything in place in a day. The neighbours probably wondered about the army colonne. And when my neighbour showed up in his Jeep, I guess the words around were not to mess with us! :-D We'll see if I run into some cheap non-working radio kits. Marty
  2. ehhhh, you're right about that! and someone expects me to do more at home also...
  3. Ok, I will now show you my the childish side of me. Unfortunately I can't blame the 5 year old for this one. This is all me, please don't hate me... ;-) And here's another series of photos... (When am I going to stop???) The first two are from "Faces of war" and the rest are from "Panzers: Phase One". http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/4420/facesofwar2007011722283dg1.png[/img] http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/5875/facesofwar2007011722285al7.png[/img] http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/2428/panzers2007011722364195pg8.png[/img] http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6261/panzers2007011722372882pz9.png[/img] http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/3928/panzers2007011722421260rs7.png[/img] http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/8134/panzers2007011722425737nu6.png[/img] http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/9574/panzers2007011722433965gz6.png[/img] http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/7664/panzers2007011722441725mh7.png[/img] This is what happens to you when you live in a country where it's too cold to drive your MV half the year. 4. Hi there! ian2be, artiststrifle & enigma! Unfortunately I haven't been to the war & peace yet, Sooner or later I gotta go there. I feel like it's a long trip and being mechanicel disabled it's a bit risky! I would need good company. The furtherst away I've been was with the Dodge at a meeting in Aalborg, Denmark. More than half of the trip was by ferry, so that wasn't any problem. :-D Someday, someway, somehow... Marty
  5. Take good care of it, it's a wonderful truck! Marty
  6. I've always preferred the american vehicles, but when I get to see pictures of trucks like that, and some other on this forum. I gotta admit I like them!!! I've also been playing with the thought of going to Normandy, perhaps 2009 will be my year as well??? Good luck with your nice truck! Marty
  7. I just discovered some photos I took ages ago. Just playing around with some post-war radio equipment. http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/1354/dodge0010kl2.jpg[/img] http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/1637/dodge0016oz2.jpg[/img] Marty
  8. This is my favorite Dodge picture. I found it on http://www.navsource.org/archives/10/160001.htm I especially like the guns towed by the Dodge. Sorry it's in colors... :-D Marty
  9. Sorry, I'm at not help. But I've developed an intrest for artillery lately. And if you have photo of what you done already it would be really fun to see. Marty
  10. I guess this is another place I should visit! Thanks for giving me advice on this summer vacation. Marty
  11. Thanks for sharing those wonderful photos. They really do inspire... we'll see perhaps some driving this weekend. Also thank you Enigma for that wonderful Dodge. Marty
  12. Didn't take me more than 40 minutes! And I wasn't even speeding... :-D But the snowy area is around 1000 metres above sea level, while I live at about 200??? Marty
  13. Hi jack! Good you enjoy the photos. As for jerry cans. I know two norwegian companies that have those for sale. First one is http://www.forsvarsbrukt.no/shopexd.asp?id=138 which is army surplus store. kr 60 each can or about 5 pounds the second http://www.olav-teigen.no/nettbutikk.htm sell them for kr 75,- each can. I bought about 20 cans from a garage nearby for kr 60 each and they are now stowed in my trailer. http://img451.imageshack.us/img451/2382/tilhengerie7.png[/img] Marty
  14. Hi Rick! They have all been out of the army for several years. And I believe that the camo scheme on my dad's Dodge nevere were in use in the army. I believe it was painted like this afterwards by a group belonging to the "home guard"/ reserve army. I don't know why they used their own vehicles though. Marty
  15. I've gotten some canvas from http://www.uscanvas.com and that fit perfect. Marty
  16. These photos were taken the 15th of may 2005. The day before my father and I went to fetch his WC51. We parked it at Trandum that night and went home to get mine which we arrived with the next day. I'll post a couple of photos here first to show you the norwegian pattern camouflage the car had, and then show you what the weather was like... :? http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/6603/img0004zy5.jpg[/img] My Dads new car with winter outfit and camo. http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/6153/img0084mt8.jpg[/img] Several US vehicles at HQ. Please note the green grass. http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/5352/img0080xf7.jpg[/img] This is a photo I think turned out really good. Taken going home from Trandum 2005. http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/6571/img0111tu1.jpg[/img] Since I hadn't gotten enough of driving I took my fathers car out for a test drive. Took into the mountains nearby. This is may the 16th!! http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/2770/img0114qd7.jpg[/img] The same test drive, also may 16th.

  18. I thought I'd leave some more photos here. If you follow the link you'll see photos from 2004.http://www.geocities.com/weaponscarrier51/trandum2004bilder These are taken at Trandum, which is the norwegian armys old training site for the cavalery. Most of the training these days takes place at Rena leir, but some activities are still at Trandum. Since this is still army property it's only a couple of times we can drive there. This thanks to HMK Romerrike. On the property there's also some memories from the war. Some areas are off limit to vehicles since there are graves of people killed by the germans. Also there's the remains of something I believe to be a test tunnel for artillery & tanks. To get their aim straight! ;-) Some german built barracks as well. This is not very far from Oslo. I'll post some photos from the meeting in 2005. See next post...
  19. Of course I had to find out what kind of cannon this really was, and now I know! It's a German ww1 Felthaubitz M16 F3, F3 telling us it had neen modified 3 three times to use NATO ammunition. Used by the norwegian army until 1975. Marty
  20. This must be the perfect way to spend a family. I'll have to do a new visit to some of the war museums in Oslo one of these weekends. Thanks for inspiring me! And nice photos! Marty
  21. Now, that one was really nice. never cared much for these pre wc51s, but lately I've gotten to admire them a lot. Not many of those here in Norway. Nice outfit too! Thanks for sharing. Marty
  22. And I get fresh air!!! :-D I never go anywhere where my car won't take me! And with the Dodge I can go everywhere! :-D I have the norwegian made wintertop for it as well, but never used it. You don't see anything around you, and it's not like it a lot warmer. It also had a heating system installed, but I have removed it. I prefer to put on clothes. I never get to see too mant photos of Dodges, so if someone would post photo of they're Dodge... Well, I wouldn't mind it one bit! Marty Marty
  23. Hi! Are you saying you don't have a Starfighter? I thought everyone had at least one! :-D Let me first say it's not mine, it belongs to the guys that run the garage I use whenever I'm in need of help. They also have the german cannon posted under german vehicles. One of them run a ww2 museum upstairs. The also found one of the smaller crew boat belonging to the battleship Tirpitz. Lot's of cool stuff! So I'm just the guy with the camera... Marty
  24. Hi Richard! I do believe you're right about ww1, as I said it has been modified. I think it was used after ww2 by the norwegian army. Marty
