  1. Speaking of UFOs and Typhoons, in 02 I visited Roswell which is famous for it's UFOs. While driving across the flat fields before we entered the town there came a F117 flying over us. This is the only time I've seen this plane and I think it's fitting that it was in Roswell we did see it! As for the Avengers, I have no comment! :-) Marty
  2. There's a CCKW 353 for sale in Dombaas, Norway at the moment. Asking price is 650 euros. omplete with top and doors. Espect minor problems with brakes/engine.

But if you pick it up yourself, you get great scenery and a lot of history. The british forces landed not far away in 1940. German paratroopers jumped over Dombaas and there are several wrecks in the area. But you're not into Jimmys anymore are you? ;-)

  3. Hmmm... What kind of field kitchen is that??? Marty
  4. Come on, you can't still be blamin' us for a few trips down south. It's been a thousand years since we quit doing those. ;-) But we might return some day, actually I've been feeling a bit restless lately... Marty
  5. Is that a tracked searchlight??? Hmm... didn't even know they made them tracked! But it doesn't have a engine I guess!? Marty
  6. I like it! Too big for me, but it's different! Just like the canadian trucks. Not pretty, but they sure do have certain charm. Hope you get one for x-mas! :-) Marty
  7. Dodge and Oshkosh together that's nice! Marty
  8. I thought this were your house!?? Marty
  9. You're right, it is a pontoon bridge. You can see more of it here: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?t=6267 Marty
  10. I agree on the wires, and they will in time changed into some more suitable. But as for today you got to agree that they fit the yellow truck rather well! ;-) Marty
  11. Last fall my father and I picked up a yellow '42 GMC. I think the plan was to restore together, but what happened is that he's been doing most of the work and I'm fixin parts and things. This is after the delivery of the truck. The engine has been fixed up a bit and the rest of the truck is getting more and more green each day. This is today, before the autumn kicks in and the project will come to a halt until spring. Marty
  12. Kettenkrad The guy I bought the bridge from, which is a really nice guy, has lots of project hidden around. Marty
  13. I'm not sure I gave a reason why I bought this bridge. Do we really need one? Well, anyway we now have this yellow Jimmy which some day will become all green and nice. We need something in the back of it, at what better than a bridge. It fits perfect back there. Marty
  14. I'm finally home after testing the bridge. I do belive I've kept you waiting long enough, so here's the promised photos. Hope they're not a disapointment after all this time... We only put together a small part of it since the weather was like it was and I'm about to travel to Holland tomorrow morning. I said this was one bridge, but it more like one and a half. Corporal Truls says the bridge is finished. Here's me on the bridge as requested. Here is the remains of an earlier project. Marty
  15. Yep, the garden is done now! But somehow I feel you were thinking of something different. And I don't think it was the pasta dinner I'm making either... You guys better be patient! Marty
  16. My GF just had me do some gardening, but it was a huge dissapointment! No bunkers found today either... Marty
  17. In a few hours I'll be whisteling the tune from "the bridge over river Kwai", which I by the way really have to see again soon. Marty
  18. We picked up the bridge with a MAN truck yesterday and took it to my parents place where theres room and a LAKE!!! Unfortunately the weather isn't that great and my GF has plans for us, so I won't be able to try it out until... At least this evening! Relax, I'll take the camera with me. This is just sort of a teaser. Marty
  19. I've looked at his blog, and find this very facinating. If I had found something like this in my yard I would have asked for leave of absence right away and started digging. But of course there's no such thing in our garden. But it still amazes me that things keep showing up after all these years. A trip to Jersey is on my top 3 ww2 related trips that I gotta do. I blame Tony B for that! :-) Marty
  20. Uder the hood it says Arthur, so I call it MacArthur if anyone asks... Marty
  21. Did I post this one??? Marty
  22. I wasn't around at that time, but listened a lot to rockabilly afew years ago and did the whole thing with drapes, drainpipe and creepers. Went on to a more american (Stray Cats)neo-rockabilly and ended up at Honkytonk (High Noon and such) Still listening to a lot of those things. Have a ticket for Stray Cats farewell tour, that I probably end up not using. Ah, remember good old Crazy Cavan with my sister got a motorbike... Thanks for reminding me of my past. Marty
  23. Wow, what an amazing speed you must have kept, since you're passing the other cars!!! :-):-):-) Marty
  24. All photos were googled and found on the net. It was fun to see some Dodge copies after all these years with Jeep copies... Marty
  25. I recently bought Bart Vanderveens HMV Directory, which is a great book. Many vehicles I hadn't seen before. What struck me was the several Dodge WC51 look-a-likes and copies from around. Csepel 130 - 1953 - Hungary Csepel 130 - 1953 - Hungary Nissan 4w72 - 1958 - Japan Toyota Fq10 - mid 1950s - Japan Daf YA126 - 1952-60 - Netherlands Marty
