  1. Thanks again! Then we're back at what we think look best! It's getting close to x-mas and since this is a joint venture with my father I thought that a wooden wheel might be a good present. Or I could buy canvas for the winch an the hole in the roof. By the way sell these steering whels? I'm pretty sure there are some repros around. Marty
  2. Thank you both! Then would you agree that out closed cab 1942 GMC should have the hard rubber wheel? Marty
  3. Didn't the GMC trucks have wooden steering wheels originally? Or was this just the latter part of the war? Marty
  4. Jimmy gone weapons carrier. If you take the best from both Dodge and GMC you end up with the vehicle at page 10 in the november issue of military machines international. I gotta say it looks good. It is of course a converted 1 1/2 M6 bomb truck. I wonder if I'll buy a cheap Jimmy 2 1/2 and cut it a bit... :-) Marty
  5. Small, but still it's a beginning! Thanks! Marty
  6. Thanks Enigma! That's a lot of information. As I've been reading it looks like someone at "hedemarksmusset" have made a mistake when they say the tank was left at Ring close to Moelv. It's more likely to be the one at Kvam. At least I haven't read anywhere about one being put out of action in Ring. The study continues! How about one of you find a nice photo of the leFH18 being pulled by horses... Marty
  7. Is this the same tank? http://www.domkirkeodden.org/fotosamling/displayimage.php?album=search&cat=0&pos=137 This one was left behind in my homtown of Moelv. Does anyone know anything about why it was left behind? (i know a real long shot...) Marty
  8. I do believe you can find the tank you're looking for at this webpage: http://www.nuav.net/bildberichters.html Marty
  9. You lucky b******! Great photos like always! Thanks! Marty
  10. Does Neubaufahrzeuge ring a bell? http://www.pbase.com/bankst/image/37615252 Marty
  11. I do believe you're both right about this experimental tank. I think I have some information about it somewhere, will post when I find it. But can you help me? I have been studying german artillery for a few hours now, and have found a 10,5 cm LeFH18 (Feld Haubitze) that I belive could have been used. People I have interviewed said it had a long barrel. They also told me where it's firing position was. Photos of the gun can be found at http://ww2photo.mimerswell.com/. I'm also curious about what vehicle that pulled this one. Marty
  12. I've just started on a project where I intend to make a exhibition showing the battle that took place in my hometown Moelv and the surrounding area. The exhibition will take place april-august 2010, which leaves me with 18 months to finish it. The exhibition will have 1) Written information on board telling the story, 2) Photos from the battle that took place, 3) Static display of uniforms, weapons and vehicles and 4) A guide that really knows the history. At the moment I'm gathering information and getting the right people into the project. Operation Weserübung, the invasion of Norway headed by Nikolaus von Falkenhorst. In the second part of april forces of 196. division of the 21. german army corps went thru Moelv and Ringsaker where they were met my heavy resistance. Group Schäfer with infantery and artillery fought throughout the 19th and 20th before pushing norwegian forces back. What I need is to know what kind of equipment they were using. Especially there's a 105mm howitzer mentioned in a book I read. But all kind of information about equipment would be apriciated. What kind of vehicles and cannons were they using. If someone has a photo of the Pellengahr division that would be really nice. I know that these units were in the Pellengahr division. 196. Infanterie-Division Infanterie-Regiment 340 Infanterie-Regiment 345 Infanterie-Regiment 362 Artillerie-Regiment 223 223 Aufklärungs-Abt. 223 Panzerabwehr-Abt. Pionier-Bn. 223 223 Nachrichten-Abt. Hope some of you can help me! Marty
  13. I think what you're doing is a good thing! You're not only making a special day for those you visit/ speak with, you're also making sure that the MV interest stays healthy. We gotta make sure that we recruit new members. This is also keeping history alive. Thumbs up! Marty
  14. How about this one... Marty
  15. How about this one!? Not an MV, but in his yard. Marty
  16. Nope, don't think so! I guess Joris is right about it being in the states somewhere! Marty

  22. I'm about to dust off this old thread, because I have nothing better to do this evening. And also because we decided to go for Crete. (It was cheaper!) We're going there on th 5th of october. Of course I've done a little research on what to expect. Plenty of good food and t that good wine, but on May 20th 1941 the island was invaded by german paratroopers. I'm reading Anthony Beevers book on the Crete invasion right now. There's supposed to be a museum there. But it's sunny there... Does anyone have any suggestions regarding Crete? Marty
  23. I was just watching the Boomerang channel, which is tv for children in case you didn't know. We were watching The Peanuts and Snoopy when they decided to visit France in their show. They went to Normandie and learned a lot about ww2 and the then went on to Falnders and learned about ww1 as well. They saw war cemetaries and battle grounds. Also some actual footage from the invasion were put in the show. I think it was a nice way to teach the young ones about the wars. Marty
  24. Very nice ideed! A nice classical building where I'd like to sit down for a beer! Marty
