    Brilliant , I was with Mr Dixon the other week who told me the storey of the recovery, his crane is long gone but the diamond still exists , if u look at the 12 minute mark you will see the second diamond used to pull whilst the crane lifted, I assume that's why the cable gave way !

    Thank you for posting and a superb new acquisition, I can almost smell the patina across the pond ! That must be one of the last chain drives of any commercial to be made ?

    Thanks for videos, missed the run this year, Clayton hill is great for spectators who appreciate all forms of engine sound , and cringe factor of gear change!

    A great shame, but Rex and his team deserve our huge thanks for what they have offered the hobby in terms of scale and quality of shows and the ability for green enthusiasts to meet year on year, most of whom now consider it a pilgrimage ! To find a character of equal enthusiasm, eccentricity , MV passion, worldwide contacts, and possibly above all able to fund the financial risk will be a hard task to follow.

    Adrian, it needs a bit of thought so not to clash with popular MV or special shows or events on here, or the continent if we expect overseas visitors to attend ! As always the more notice given and reminders , the better chance of a good attendance. Keep flying the DT flag:thanx:

    Maybe you should double check your expectations of the 220 and it's performance against another Foden before assuming she is too asthmatic ! My experience of this horsepower is they perform similarly whether partially freighted or right up to weight, obviously if you run out of gears there is an issue!

    Your correct Bernard, I have tried and the steering set up on an explorer just does not like it, best to lift the front and drop the prop, lol made me think, can you remember when Laurie Maddox , suspend towed two home and explorer and a highwayman on the dead explorer, Wales to Sussex !! If I remember correct.

    So here is a sad looking 980 ( ex Murphys ) last job construction of the A10, driven into a yard 25 plus years ago and had the elements eat away at her tinwork but sound below !!. We lifted the remains of the cab off and put in the ballast box for the journey home ! This is going to be cut up for spares. a, to complete the parts I need for a 981 project at home ( that will then be for sale as a restoration package) and b, first dibs to those on the forum for what I don't need before the mighty eBay.

    Thanks dizzy- t , I have just found another ex Murphy T in the same county but not RG Motors, bought for spares only, but assume these two were on one of the Hertfordshire motorway contracts ? Will upload some photos when we collect.

    Hi Gideon, I reckon if the living van is pre 60's your onto a safe bet, but as with all legislation it is the interpretation of it !, if you have a class 2 licence you in a much safer position than many I see who run large old tackle and trailers on a car licence.

    Yes I remember, when it came up for disposal the museum wanted it gone, a non runner petrol , driven into the courtyard , and from memory a very tight access to drive in, bids were offered in writing to the museum with a method statement of removing such a dead item. A local mate fat Harry gave me the lead, and i recall bidding £800 for it, that must of been 10 +years ago, I had a lovely letter back from the museum thanking me for my offer of only two interested parties who put in written bids ! I think I was £100 light in my offer from memory. not sure where it ended up.

    I am told that the wider Scotch was supplied as standard with the Holmes 750 gear.
