  1. That's not a damaged pinion, THIS is a damaged pinion ... 🙂 Andy
  2. I've found a Lake & Elliott "Millennium" 4 ton jack amongst my bits and pieces which I believe to be the correct jack for my Abbot so I'd like to restore it. At the moment the top screw is seized solid and pumping the handle achieves nothing. Does anyone have experience of rebuilding these and/or know where I may be able to obtain new seals etc? Andy
  3. Do you have any photos? It would also be helpful to know whereabouts you are (fill in the location field in your profile!) 🙂 Andy
  4. Registration for vehicles closed on the 30th. 😞 Andy
  5. Brake cleaner usually works well on the filter, but gently scrape off any excess gunge first. Andy
  6. It might be worth noting that he last visited this site in 2012 .... Andy
  7. Some useful information here, perhaps? https://armyradio.com/Clansman-UK-RT-344-PRC-344-UHF-AM-Ground-To-Air-Man-Pack-Transceiver.html Andy
  8. In the absence of any further information I'm at a loss to understand how "incorrect batteries" could cause the stated problems? Andy
  9. Thanks all - I've solved the immediate issue now but I'd like to have a reliable source for the future. Andy
  10. I have, as I said above, but I'd appreciate knowing a supplier who has decent ones in the first place! Andy
  11. Correct and I didn't send a new photo last time (I'm 66) as the renewal form didn't ask for it. Andy
  12. When reassembling the brake pipe banjos on my Stolly, I came across an issue where the modern copper washers that you buy in assorted kits are not only thinner than the originals but also harder so don't squash properly. At Barry Ring's suggestion I annealed and reused the old ones, but can anyone suggest a supplier of decent quality new ones? Andy
  13. My version is: "If you see it but you don't need it now, buy it anyway. If you see it and only need one, buy two or three". 🙂 Andy
  14. I looked at getting some IWM Abbot films digitised, but not only are they expensive, they also come with very restrictive distribution permissions. Andy
  15. How much air pressure have you got in the Abbot's equilibrator? Andy
  16. I retain my C1/HGV3 with a (now) annual medical from, funnily enough, D4Drivers. Definitely recommended - fast, efficient and cost-effective. Andy
  17. It probably depends on how loud you need it to be. Try it direct on the radio, if that's not loud enough then put an amplifier in the middle. Andy
  18. Those pins look very FV430 to me rather than CVRT? Andy
  19. As the removal of asbestos was one of the drivers behind the Bulldog conversions I would be very surprised if any non-Bulldog FV430s have had asbestos removed. Andy
  20. Not as such, Robin, but I'll grab ones relevant to my vehicles and occasionally other ones that interest me. Andy
  21. They come up on eBay occasionally. Andy
  22. I'm almost certain that the shielding contains asbestos, the brake bands in the steering box certainly do. Andy
