  1. My current pet peeve is the "sweeping" indicators fitted to a lot of new vehicles. Not only are they completely unnecessary but they are hopeless in bright sunlight. I followed a Golf and an A3 the other day, one with sweeping indicators and one without, and the difference was chalk and cheese. Andy
  2. That reminds me that at one stage I bought some wiring looms (possibly for a Saracen) from Makano Surplus who unfortunately don't seem to still be in business. That means I'm pretty well OK for the smaller diameter conduit, but the Abbot also uses a larger diameter and I haven't been able to find a source for those. This isn't very clear and the vehicle is two hundred miles away, but might help explain. Andy
  3. My personal preference is never to re-use old nuts and bolts unless they are some special entity. I'd replace them with new ones of the type shown in the ISPL. On the conduit front, xmod had some a while back, but I've no idea if they still have any. I'm trying to find a source of the fittings they connect to for my Abbot, such as the T-pieces on the headlamps. Andy
  4. This would appear to be a likely candidate? https://www.greenmachinesurplus.com/cvrt-technical-handbooktechnical-description-719-p.asp Andy
  5. Actually Terry, I think you did if you're a UK taxpayer! Andy
  6. I concur - if it's circuit diagrams you're after (the original query isn't clear) they're usually in either the Technical Description or Field/Unit Repair EMERs. Andy
  7. Thanks Greg, I'd appreciate knowing the VRNs of the Abbots, and pictures would be good, too! Andy
  8. Don't worry, I thought that an Abbot was a tank until shortly before I bought one. You'll get shot on here, though! 🙂 As I said in the 430 Forum, I suspect that your only real solution is to repair the existing amplifier. I've never seen a circuit diagram but all the components are listed in the ISPL so at least you know what's there. Andy
  9. Neither is it an Abbott ... 🙂 More seriously Greg, you'd be better off posting those photos as JPEGs rather than HEICs that can't be read by most web browsers. Andy
  10. I believe congratulations are in order? Well done Simon! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-56016031 Andy
  11. They seem very few and far between. Rumour has it that Raytheon discovered that MOD were selling them off and promptly asked for them back.
  12. Thanks Clive, and yes, my Stolly is quite big enough for me!
  13. FM and AM as it's intended as a ground to air unit - it's also known as TacGA.
  14. Thanks Clive, I had a quick look but couldn't see anything obvious.
  15. Has anyone else seen this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Foden-Military-Army-Water-Cannon-Lorry-Truck-Classic-Vintage-Rare-Barn-Find/203271782199 Andy
  16. I've only ever used mine on 2m as I've got plenty of other 4m sets such as 352/VRM5080 etc. Here it is in the back of my RB44, alongside a PRC138 with Ptarmigan CNRI and subset below. Andy
  17. It's the only one, Clive. As the radio is of US origin I suspect that's the nature of the original contract. Andy
  18. Thanks both - I've only just seen the replies to my old thread. I currently have both a working 346 and the operator's manual (AESP 5820-F-299-201). The service manual is a bit of a joke - basically if it goes wrong, send it back! Andy

  20. Reported - there's an option to do so in the three dots menu to the right of each post. Andy
  21. Like theatres, COVID certainly won't do them any favours. Andy
  22. Cornwall council planning had the same problem in that they were convinced a building had to be industrial even if used solely for a hobby, which is why they refused planning permission (twice and appeal!) 😞 Andy
