  1. After the engine ran, stripped off starter, rad. etc. to refurbish parts clean up and paint. Very lucky with the thermostat bolts. took over half hour to remove but none sheared off. A light tap on each, slight ease to tighten , tap, slight ease to loosen. Slowly but surely all three came out. Thermostat!! had to be chiseled out. Job done. Last Sat. More parts!!! Gear oil, brake light switch, temp senders (finding all such parts are falling apart with great ease.) Complete exhaust system, head heater tap and two fuel tanks. Parts man gave me a good deal on the two as one has a slight prob. with the filler neck. They are B.part. To me they look a very well made tank, good side panel pressings and bottom plate. Certainly as heavy as a origional. Total cost of parts, £345.10
  2. I NEARLY GOT OUT OF BED AND WENT!!!!! EARLY!!!:-D Great haul Mark. May beat you this Sun. Mind you got parts for my restoration instead.
  3. Couple of pics. of my mates 'new' Landi. Getting ready for its MOT. Rather tidy for the £... (promised not to tell) He has been told it was ex. RAF and had been coverted from LHD. Oh. he allso had to have a scrap one as well!! Got a few parts for my project :-D 72 AM 76
  4. Only a wild guess. With out a blade, looks like a marlin. Mates make boat fenders and use somthing very much the same. But allways had to reach for a knife as well. Just a thought.
  5. I would also like to know as I have one. Was told it held mags. for a ??? but forgot
  6. Hi Josh. Got a couple riot helmets myself. Have posted a pic. of a 'Helmet ART' on a thread I started under military headware (that is the motorcycle type) dated 85' also have the Mk V type as well. Have a Mk 6 but visor missing. Give a shout if info needed. Andy.
  7. Thanks for that will give it a go t'moz. My local dealer has put two on one side for me. One good used and one new. Well I have two Airportables now, my project has it's missing.
  8. Great finds. Had a call t'night. Mate got a smock 'para' wonder which one
  9. Thanks for the input folks. Must admit I'm a bit of a stickler for keeping origional and everything working. But for the MOT will cut out I/R switch and replace when I get a goodun. Yep, now need two sets of the I/R lenses, Oh, just cleaned up the oil drips from underneath for the MOT, AND the head lights now work!!!
  10. 3. Adaptor RF. connected between the TUAAM (on the wing) and a 353 (Big radio) 4. Initiator box. Connected between TUAAM and a 351/2 to tune to a set frequency. 5. IB3. Can be used in a installation of up to three radio's. Again think I have seen used in a system to talk to each other. Sorry not a lot of help, you will find the box,s 3,4 the most usefull for a basic radio display.
  11. Try to help where I can, but may stand corrected! 1. Drivers box (DB) Used in installations where intercommunication facilities only required. My only manual shows how it would be used in a tank! But have heard they can be connected in a way you can talk to each other in a Airportable. 2. Not sure on that one. 3. Oh. need to go back to your post for the pic.
  12. Today serviced and started to check over for MOT later this week. L/Rover Ser.III Airportable FFR 1980 To my horror no headlights. Traced fault to the Infra red switch. All other lights OK. Flick switch to infra red, head lights OK, but dont think will pass with no rear or brake lights! Dont think I can get a switch in time. Question, does any one know if another problem will appear if I connect the( blue ) feed to the flash/dip switch from the I/R switch to the (blue/black) feed from the 6-way light switch to the I/R switch, thus 'shorting' out the I/R function. Tried for a few min. seemed to be no prob. as head lights worked fine. Dont want to burn out the relay. Thanks.
  13. Thanks daz76. At three t'day ready to attempted to start. Electrical fault, no power through the coil. Was going to get all new ignition parts earlier but told there are three options for 79' Landi. 12v. Dash back to the dealer and picked up new coil, points and condensor. All fitted, starter started to play up! Fitted spare starter and correctly wired in through the solenoid this time. Engine turned over couple of times and fired up at exactly 6.52 Appart from no exhaust system it seemed to run very well indeed without and tinkering with the carb. Did not run too long as I did not have the water pump running, did not want to risk damage to the alternator not being wired, think allso the thermostat is seized shut as I was unable to get much water into system so air locked. Tryed to fit new thermostat earlier but looks like the three bolts are well seized into the head (only 7/16") Not looking forward to attempting to remove. All in all a very pleasing day, think it's the first time it as run in twelve or so years. Cost of coil etc. £16.80 Pic. or two later when I've had tea!
  14. Had lunch. Been to collect more parts/battery. Engine oil/gearbox oil, total 6Lt, filter, gaskets/seals, set rad.hoses/heater hoses, set fan belts, special nuts and main bulkhead bolts, thermostat. £58.95 096 battery £54.00 Now off to the shed to see if we can get it running.
  15. Hi folks. Dont want to confuse the above. But for information I have parts book, Code No. 61278.. May 75' LV6MT9/2530-99-823-6024 SHUTTLE VALVE brake failure switch.
  16. Looking good Mark, must admit that does look like it will work very well.
  17. Good pics Mark. Yes it is a great event, fantastic view over the whole site where we are 'parked' One to just take a chair and watch the aircraft. Pity more vechicles dont attend.
  18. Thanks for the pics. Looks like you picked up a few nice finds as well.
  19. A day I've been looking forward to. Dropping the engine back on the chassis. Pity I had not thought about having couple cans of oil, filter! Oh well, gives me a week to fit oil cooler etc. before I attempt to run the engine. Question. Any one used/recommend a supplier for a full set set brake pipes? Not sure I want to use copper, would like a rustless pipe though as I dont want to start drilling chassis for more fixing clips than origional.
  20. Thanks. Work and a quiet evening.
