  1. Yes looked the job. Did I mention before I left, section stewart commented that the show health/safety officer thought our attention to public safety etc. regards mine field tape/ signage and wire was first class. Promised us pride of place next year if at Newport by the lake under the trees.
  2. Great detail pics. One mistake with my rebuild, should have drilled new chassis in correct positions for clips for new brake pipes. Very, very difficult with engine etc. back in. Just a thought.
  3. Briliant pics. I would be very intrested in excact size of the tins and colour i.e. plain tin or a 'yellowish' laquer colour, list of correct content discription. Reason being I have a friend in the transfer business who this weekend had a go very late at night copying a slightly later lettering on the tins. Fist attempt outstanding, going to quote on transfer runs over winter. Only have a pic. of result on my phone at mo. so will sort a pic. this week. I hope to with His help to be able to reproduce ration pack tin transfers correct for the late 70's early 80's for use at living history events. At the mo. only found tins of Co-Op peas that are the EXACT size of the slightly later tin. He will even be able to replicate the soldered seam, or is that a little like rivet counting. :nut: Transfers will be able to be made for use on other contents.
  4. Forgot to say, pity such intresting 'tat' kept turning up to add to collection!! Stall holder came and thanked us all for making it worth while Him going!!!!! Allways said these small events seem to turn up trumps for intresting collectables.
  5. Yes it was a great weekend, and yes pity you were so far away from me. Well we were given a 158ft frontage to fill! The weather was kind, good job as I had no tent as such. Great that I think fairly local Nam. group were there who allso put in hell of a lot of work for such a relatively small event. Enough waffle, a few more pics.
  6. Big tip, spend the extra money and buy a running complete vehicle, make number 2 the restoration project! Robin I second that! Welcome to the forum.
  7. Thanks folks. To be honest not added up, think it will frighten me as I needed a new roof on the house!!!! Somthing I will do as soon as all major parts aquired. Still to go, most of the seating, brake master cylinder, front bumper, head lights, few bits and pieces. Today work done. Brake pipes fitted, bulkhead fitted :cheesy: and the loom installed. Pics to follow.
  8. I had removed the top side panel in the pic. then decided to buy whole tub.
  9. All sorts of 'bits' done last few days. Brake pipes another story! Collected paint, thinners and have given the bulkhead another coat and few more parts. But had a lead on another tub. Very tidy except for a rear of door to sill panel removed. Deal on tub and other bits and pieces £70. Paint NATO 2.5Lt £25. primer 1Lt and thinners £13.12. Various switches, including indicator/dip, fixings, tube etc. Shrugborough event £27.50. I have removed chassis no. from data plate in pic. of donor vehicle. Reg. for intrest.
  10. Spent today at this local event. Think will be one of the better 'do's' this year. So friendly and great intrest all round. Very well attended by the public and 100's vehicles and good auto jumble etc. (few more parts for restoration project) Not a big collection of Mil. vehicles but most put on a display of kit etc. and a all round bunch of great folks. (should have started our own club!) I just happened to get trophy for my display. PS wont mention I ran fuel tank dry on way home :red: sender fault, :-(
  11. Great pics, thanks. Also great displays. Who put on radio kit? NBC kit great idea.
  12. Hi and welcome from a Airportable and nearly another owner!!!
  13. All you need now is your mat and poncho. Home from home! Used mine for years now, love it.
  14. Bril. thanks for that. Can look it up now.
  15. A chap who passes by brought a radio for me to look at. What is it, my first thought is it's American, and I think VHF? Other than RACAL on it, no other No's etc. Thanks. Andy.
  16. That is stunning, thanks for the pics. Come on Mark, when you starting??
  17. Little more done today. Made new rubber mounts for the front grill panel and fit. Looking like a Airportable again. Sprayed the bulkhead, ordered more paint. Hope my mate picks up a pipe bender for the brake pipes Sun.
  18. Thought I would add to this old thread a few pics. of a ration pack given to me at work the other day, by a very nice man. I know that the contents are not related to the tin regards age, but a good little collection.
  19. Collectables for the future?? Who knows, funny how kit is so common it just sells through market stalls, car boots etc. for kids, fishermen, shooters etc. etc. Then one day it has all gone and been binned. This must have happened to 68ptn. I remember my local 'outdoor shop' selling great coats, war time gas mask bags. I could go on, for next to nothing. One reason ANY intresting bag, bits clothing, old and modern I pick up if only a pound or two. Good job I'm single!!! But as first of this thread stated, must be mint or real clean and tidy.
  20. Hi Wayne, see my pics of the under tub supports rails removed. Bare alloy. and the rails def. just pressed steel and spray painted final assy. Hence rotton rails!! My new ones will be undersealed inside before assy.
  21. Just a little point and I may be wrong!! When I was in the ag. trade we sold gallons chain saw oil. I THINK but can not remember training. Sure chain saw oil had to be bio gradable so it did not contaminate forest ground etc. Given figs on how much was sprayed into the envoriment. i.e. it breaks down by rain water, not much use for a underseal. Try and find Anchor wax. A mate sprayed under my Landi. this last month with some wast oil but mixed it a underseal so it stayed 'put' and did not look like a massive oil leak. :-D Looks good.
  22. Picked up on Saturday. Must have carried somthing heavy, bergan type harness. No NSN No. just what is printed as shown. Aerolex Ltd buckles dated 83', age of item approx? Thanks.
  23. Thanks Clive. Just sorted pic. or two of the front panel and work started on rear tub. Panel had a little rot, easy to cut out and repair, now primed. Rear tub. picks tell story of rot set in between steel and alloy!! I thought it would not be a bad idea to remove brackets and paint, little did I know what I would find.Rear wiring harness now through the chassis, were able to get access and pull through no prob. with single core 2.5mm cable. Started to rebuild brake lines.
