  1. As mentioned above... As long as its primary use is not a piece of "mobile plant" (crane, cherrypicker, generator), it can tow. How much it can tow is dependant on manufacturer's info, Gross Train Weight (if it was ever assigned one in a past civvie life?) and sensibility/looking "OK"! Being a wrecker, there should be no probs weight-wise (considering the weight of a caravan), just make sure the hitch is well made and up to the job (it pre-dates construction and use regs), and that the lighting is up to scratch (bit trickier as all the caravan behind the WLF would need for being towed is triangles and tail-lights, but would be sensible to have indicators and brake lamps plumbed in as well). It goes by the age of the towing vehicle and the regulations governing it, but if some monkey following you decides you should have indicated, grey area. Find/build yourself a mammoth 1940s caravan with matching colour scheme to tow behind! :cool2: Best of luck and show us photos! Alec.
  2. If you get fed up of the Ariel WNG, give me a shout! <br> Alec.
  3. It's fair to say that when the Shorland goes out and about, it will be a broomshank covered in canvas due to the ever-increasing GPMG prices! :cool2::-D Alec.
  4. Hi Folks, Looking for a changeover tap and pair of switches for a twin-tank LR. Seatbox or bulkhead (GS/Ambu), either is fine. A couple of spare switches would also be handy? Alec.
  5. Hi Clive, Want to change the name of the image......? :cool2: :-D Alec.
  6. I nearly had a fit, i thought you were selling the Proto! We Shorland owners must stay strong and support each other :-D Alec.
  7. A friend with mobility issues had an "automatic" clutch. Push button on gearstick, disengaged clutch, change gear and let button go. Bit tricky to get the release speed coordinated without stalling but he got it sussed in the end. I seem to recall it was like a vacuum servo working a hydraulic release. What system do you have fitted? Alec.
  8. Hi Folks, Anyone have a copy of a Meadows 4DJ420 Service/Workshop Manual? I have most of the Parts Manual. I'd be interested in buying it or even a loan (with a deposit of course), to copy/scan/return it. I'd give the owner a CD of the scanned manual back as well... I have most of the Parts Manual. Alec.
  9. Hi, Did you ask them about books/manuals? Alec.
  10. Come join us on classic camp stoves! https://fettlebox.co.uk/british-military-no-2-stove-seal-kit.html Alec.
  11. Unavailable I'm afraid. Seal kits are available via The Fettlebox Trawl old stoves for accessories/spares to make up a complete set and then sell the spare stoves I'd say. Alec.
  12. As above, looking for a lid for a 6-Gallon cooking pot. Inner and outer would be nice but not fussy. If you have a whole pot you would be willing to sell, also get in touch. :-D Cheers, Alec
  13. Good on you David, thanks! I've an adjustable one that'll do that range for testing purposes. Anyone fancy 6 gallons of tea? Alec.
  14. Hello Folks, Anyone with a kitchen trailer, can you check your gas regulator(s) and tell me what outlet pressure is needed for the H-burners on propane please? Thanks, Alec
  15. A ventilated case to keep something alive in? Attracting rats to a trap.....? :cool2: Alec.
  16. The only thing I've seen close are the Wankel spark plugs, although they are more to do with the lack of protrusion, there are distinct similarities. Alec.
  17. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!!!! Alec
  18. Or the opposite, a probe to make the aircraft or device aboard the aircraft at the same potential as the ionosphere....? Alec
  19. So, 1kv up to 3kv, not inductive but with a degree of capacitive coupling, 1/2" or so dia connector with an earth/grounded casing. Is it an evacuated device? In my world that screams GM tube or photomultiplier... :-D Compensating for solar radiation/ionic radiation? Alec
  20. I was going to say carbon arc electrode too! :cheesy: Alec.
  21. Hang on, it's not something ridiculous such as "Methods of Mounting a Noticeboard" or some such......? :-D You have previous form Clive :cool2: Alec.
  22. Anti-Spall or penetration testing? Alec.
  23. Weber carburettors are the spawn of Satan! If you don't have the tech to fit an SU Carb, the Zenith is the next best thing. Lovely carbs, easily serviced, great power and torque. Alec.
