  1. I am sitting here struggling with the implementation of the population and metadata creation phase of a multiimillion pound photographic database. I needed to clear my head so please accept this dip into the Barnes snap library. The following pix from Beltring date from the late nineties.
  2. I prefer the third mono. The ww2 style colour is getting close. Not easy to match to old Kodak or Agfa tones and half tones.
  3. Nice motor, Welcome aboard. According to the moderator's diary, it's your turn to buy the Jaffa cakes. Someone else will make the tea.....A comfy armchair has been saved for you in the members lounge.
  4. The dancing girls ate all the biscuits. Welcome aboard. Jack will show you the duty rosta at some point. If you bung him a bottle of single malt, and i don't mean Sarsons, he'll take you off the big cleaning list. The clubhouse is open all day, every day....ever since we lost the keys.
  5. The Southend Air Show was the place to be......
  6. These motors brim with character. I like!
  7. FAST work Ian. I was driving by on the way to the Tip and saw the Sandwich Marina logo but had no chance to post. The yard owner there is really keen for a decent sized amphib, hence the M2B. He had it out on the water on a day I couldn't get down there. The Bv206 is very handy on the mudflats - but haven't seen it in use. I thought the Stolly looked tidy. But I am clueless. Is £5500 a good price for such a beast??? Hope someone take it to a good home.
  8. I never even noticed the Brockway......have only ever seen one - in a museum last summer.
  9. Does anyone want to know how I made it to Assistant Patrol Leader in the 1st City Of London (Lord Mayor's Own) scout troop in 1973? Didn't think so... carry on AlienFTM....
  10. You lot are more often up on these things than me, but - if you haven't seen it, have a look at http://www.travellerdave.co.uk loads of interesting pics. Not all MVs - a real sprinkling of stuff. The bloke is a real character.... MB
  11. What's the plan, then? Change the image month on month, year on year. I think the concept is brilliant, but must mean a lot of work for you! I agree it would be good to build up a collection of member with motor pics. So, I'm happy to do these at Bolero and Beltring for future use - and any other snapping for that matter.
  12. Hello chaps. A boatyard near me seems to have acquired a Stolly to go with a Bv206 and a M2B bridging unit. Any of the Essex wing know anything about it? I'll go for a mooch over the weekend. Steve the yard owner is a real character, so I'll ask him if I get the chance.
  13. Hey Mark, Your Beltring display is superb. My lad James is always taking pix of it. cheers Snapper
  14. Welcome Joe. You will find a lot of SAS Pinkie related stuff on the forum. Watch this space...... Snapper
  15. More stories please sir....................
  16. Without forcing anyone to volunteer, perhaps anyone who will be having a bigger plot could make themselves a RVP point - especially in the Americas Field?????? I'm not sure where I'm going to set camp myself = will probably stay near the showers and the press office for hygiene and work reasons. But this year I will have the Von Slowmobile with me for press buggy games.
  17. I was discussing the rehearsal with John Blackman and John T (but it may have been Neil). This is on the evening before. I was wondering if it is worth popping along to see what there is to see. But it may be that plod keeps everyone at a long distance. Any advice from the participants????
  18. I wasn't there on sunday, Kyle; so I missed the M10. Sorry I never got the chance to say hello. We will need an HMVF RVP next year so we can all catch up. Mark B
  19. Mike, Will you go for an age related plate?????
  20. Tone, I think I gave some snaps of a restored LW with all the kit on. I have to get a portfolio together for Rex C, so when I find them I'll let you know.
  21. The secret of battlefield touring is to continue doing it and keep taking comparison snaps of where you go. It is amazing how things change. I promise that one day I will get my Arromanches circa 1975 schoolboy snaps scanned and posted one of these days. Normandy is wonderful - there is so much to see. Does anyone ever really do all of it? Wait til you get the WW1 bug - that is a life's work. Here goes....
