  1. "Did you get my email regarding the canvas bed cover?" - Yes I did, Jim, thanks. I'll dig up the bed from the deepest part of the basement (where my wife puts all my stuff.... sigh) Goran N
  2. Always interesting to know: What paint did you use? Commercially available or specialist paint? Goran N
  3. Hej du doktor diesel, The KP-cars saved many lives in the Congo conflict, not only Swedish ones. The Irish, Indian and Ethiopian troops of the UN brigade in Elisabethville demanded use of the KP-cars when moving around the war zone. The Swedish drivers and machine gunners thus had to be on duty almost 24 hours a day. Its quite amazing that a vehicle, based on a commercial engine/frame setup, and built not to last too long, was in use by the Swedish army, notably the armored units in Gotland, well into the 90's. goran_noren [at] yahoo [dot] com Göran Norén Lidingö
  4. This is the perfect forum to show us your photos of hidden and unknown vehicles..;-) Welcome, Goran N Sweden
  5. There might just be a LCI, or similar, moored in Stockholm, and used as an office boat. These pic's were taken through a car window in Jan 2010. I passed by the ship today, and it's still there. I'll try to go down to the docks this weekend and take better photographs. Goran N Here´s the reason I think it might be a former landing craft.
  6. Hi Joris, I feel with you. I don't have the facilities, the tools & machines, or the knowledge to undertake a engine renovation, either. I'd try to find a good restored engine, a short block, i.e. an engine without the auxiliaries such as water pump, carburetor, intake/exhaust, oil pump, distributor, etc. and move those items from the old engine (if they're all in good condition, that is). I suppose you can move the LPG parts too. Good luck, let us know how you're doing. Goran N Sweden
  7. Someone with Photoshop and waaaayyyyy too much time on their hands... The first one is really well done and its well executed. Goran N
  8. The Dodge is a M37 and I saw one in very good condition when I was in Thailand (Phuket) being used as a daily driver. Goran N
  9. "Note" or "Caution" "when draining the coolant liquid" to be precise. Goran N
  10. The BEMAK you saw on the plate is actually "BEMAERK" or "BEMÄRK", which is Danish and means "Note". This Jeep is truly a happy mix of parts from all over the place.... Goran N
  11. Early WC's had a metal floor, which was replaced later during the war with wood to save on steel. Many WC's that were used post war probably had the wooden floor replaced by steel because it was easier to replace the floor with steel instead of wood. Goran N
  12. I've seen similar things in the north of Denmark, Jutland, where the Germans built heavy fortifications and bunkers all along the coast during the war. The coast line in the north consists of sand, and the dug in bunkers have been exposed due to the erosion of the sand and soil. Goran N
  13. This video can be watched in the UK only, unfortunately. Can anyone post it on Youtube so the rest of the world (Sweden, for example) can watch it? Goran N
  14. Hiya Marty, I guess the Gaz 67B came to Norway from Korea in the early 1950's? The North Koreans / Chinese used quite a few Gaz 67B from Russian surplus stocks. Several Gaz 67B wound up in the United States. I've seen two myself during my travels in the States. Which auction will it appear in? Perhaps you can post a link to the auction? Kind regards Goran N Sverige
  15. Hi gang, Just got the First Aid Box bracket and need to know where these brackets were installed? My guess would be somewhere under the dash, but exactly where? Also need to know where to place the Grease Gun bracket? Somewhere under the bonnet/hood? Goran N Sweden
  16. I can't but fall in with the rest of the guys: What a fantastic achievement to have built that Schwimmer! Have you considered making this full time and sell replica MV'sd to people with the funds but without the skills? Wishing you a Happy Easter. Live long - and prosper... Goran N Sweden
  17. I fall in behind the rest: Get well soon, Joris. Being hospitalized is not anyone's idea of fun and having your appendix out is not fun either. Mind the laughing and coughing... Goran N Sweden
  18. Captain Kirk urged him on - "faster, faster!" He screamed down to engineering - "Give us more power Scotty.... " "We must outrun these damned Klingons" Jokes aside. The picture was taken by a photographer, Hagen Hopp, from the Swedish monthly magazine Nostalgia, that ran a 4 page article on my Dodge WC51 in 2005. They really liked the fact that my Dodge a weather-beaten look to it. I borrowed the Bantam, also with the same weather beaten look, from a friend of mine. They could have chosen from a whole hoard of extremely well restored vehicles, with perfect factory finish paintwork, but they chose mine. Go figure... Live long - and prosper, Goran N
  19. Michel, I agree with the others on driving the Dodge WC. I have been in a wheelchair for the last few years and had to pass over the driving of my 1945 Dodge WC51 to a friend of mine. He's 195 cm tall and can drive the Dodge without problem. The driving position is not optimal but its very hard finding an MV that's both affordable and driveable. We've solved the problem of driving position by taking brakes and letting the driver stretch his legs. You can also try rearranging the drivers chair and move it back 2-3 cm, I've read of guys that have done that. Why not ask someone that owns a Dodge WC to let you drive it for a couple of hours? I think you need to drive it for a while to get the feel of it. I'm enclosing a picture of my friend Soeren driving my Dodge. Choosing the WC51 over the WC52 saves you about 50 cm in length (and 200-300 kg in weight), and the WC51 fits into most garages, if you just remove the tarpaulin in the back and lower the windshield. Good luck Michel, let us know what you decide [and lots of pictures once you've bought your vehicle ;-) ] Live well - and prosper, Goran N Sweden
  20. Hi, Try having a look at Jeep Draw. They have tons of Jeep drawings for a nominal fee. Have a look here: http://www.jeepdraw.com/front-sect.htm Good luck, Goran N Sweden
  21. You'll find the plates here (I'm planning on getting mine, for my 1945 Dodge WC51) from here: http://www.mvdataplates.com/wwii.php I've seen very few ex. Norway MV's with the original plates in place. They for swapped for Norwegian plates. Good luck, Live well - and prosper, Goran N Sweden
  22. Ciao Luigi, Welcome to the forum. I hope to be able to go to Italy with my Dodge WC51, marked as an ambulance of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force under General Clark. I was hoping to go in March this year, for 2-3 weeks, culminating around April 25th. Traveling in my Dodge takes a bit of planning, though. I am disabled and ride with my electric wheelchair in the back of my Dodge. I need at least three personal assistants with me all the time. They need to be fed and housed, plus paying for petrol/gasoline and shipping for the Dodge... Well, if not this year, at least next year. I have been to Normandy on four occasions now, 1984, 1989, 1994 and 2009, and each time it rained cats-and-dogs half the time I was there. The weather in Italy around April is sooo much nicer, and the risk of rain is lower. Do you know of anyone in Italy that have Brazilian markings on their vehicles? - And are interested in FEB (Forca Expeditionaria Brasileira)? goran_noren (at) yahoo (dot) com Live well - Goran N Lidingo Suécia
  23. This is slightly off topic: Question to you Adrian: I was in regular contact, up until a few years ago, with a guy by the name of David who was part of the Parola team when you restored the Comet. David used to have a Ram which he got from one of the ranges. I have lost Davids address and e-mail and would love to get in contact with him again. My e-mail: goran_noren(at)yahoo(dot)com Thanks, and I wish you and everybody else here a Happy New Year [with lots of MV's for us to play with :-) ] Goran N Lidingo Sweden
  24. Nice one! Handy with those doors too. Where did you pick those up? What OD paint did you use for it? Live well, Goran N Sweden
