  1. I've been using my Canon 350D (Rebel XT) for 2 1/2 years now. It takes excellent pictures on Auto setting right out of the box. Plenty of books on Ebay about how to use the different manual settings. The 350D differs a little bit from the 400D, 8 Mb as opposed to 10 MB. The automatic cleaning etc. Practical items are: tripod (for indoor/museum pic's), UV screw on lenses to protect your expensive new Canon lenses, a good quality flash (Canon EX580 is top-of-the-line, and expensive). I've just bought two new lenses with Image Stabilizing (IS), a 28-135 mm and a 70-300 mm. I'm a Tetraplegic and my hands are not too strong-hence the need for IS. My two other lenses a Tamron AF 28-300 mm F/3.5-6.3 XR DO LD Aspherical (IF) Macro lens, and my Canon Zoom Lens EF 80-200 mm F/4.5-5.6 II, are up for sale. I'll be putting them on Ebay any day. Canon, Nikon or Fuji etc. is a matter of personal choice. Read reviews on the net, try them out (borrow from a friend), then make your choice. Good luck! As always, Goran Noren Sweden
  2. Hi Tony, I say, go the re-alignment route. Just remove the shoes and bring them to a brake shop. I had shoes (8 of them) re-aligned for a very reasonable sum. Good luck. BTW I agree with you, I also want my brakes on my 1944 WC51 to be perfect. As always, Goran Sweden
  3. 16 Cherioteers 4 Comets 3 Sturmgeschutz Can someone lend me some money??? As always, Goran Noren Sweden
  4. Hi Tim, I remember your Jeep now. I have also been trying to get hold of US Chaplain's stuff and I'm as appauled as you of the prices. Funny you should mention the portable organ. I was also trying to buy it, and missed out! 100 USD for that piece was a very good price indeed. Information on Chaplain's vehicles is, as you probably know, hard to find. I'll go through my "picture archive" (fancy name, eh?) and send you the pictures I have of Chaplain's vehicles. I didn't have the funds to purchase a MB/GPW, unfortunately, so I bought myself a 1944 Dodge WC51 at a NATO auction in Norway 1994. Got a set of new sparkplugs, changed the oil, got a tarp, and drove to Normandy. 3.500 kms in 2 1/2 weeks! Quite a trip... Could you give me your e-mail address, for the pic's? Mine is: goran_noren@yahoo.com. As always, Goran
  5. Hello Jim, "Are you the same Goran Noren who wrote into Wheels and Tracks in 1991 asking for information on WW2 US Army Chaplin's Jeeps. If so i am still awaiting a reply to the letter i sent you" That should be me. I, however, can't for the life of me not remember the letter you're referring to, only 16 years later :? I'm truly sorry if I missed getting back to you as I should. Why don't you give me the chance to repair for my mistake and present me with your question/questions again? goran_noren@yahoo.com I'm still looking for information on Chaplain's vehicles and Chaplain's equipment, BTW. With kind regards Goran Noren Sweden
  6. It's a post war Gaz 67B. They were made until 1953. The WW2 ones have a slightly different grillle-the later 67B's had a stamped grille much like the MG/GPW. WW2 Gaz's are very, very, hard to find. I have checked out a few for sale in Russia and the former Sovjet states but they are usually in a horrendous state. The "restored" ones are a mix of parts, Gaz 67 and any other parts they have been able to find. The unrestored are usually just a rusty pile of parts. As always, Goran Noren
  7. My Dodge WC51 has been called POPEYE for years now. Why? Saw it on a WW2 vehicle and the name stuck. Now that I have learnt more on The Brazilian Expeditionary Force (Italy 1944-45) I will name my Dodge "Tiaoziño". (On the top of radiator) Which is short for, and a loving way to say it, Sebastian. My 7 year old son, and the apple of my eye. As always, Goran Noren Sweden Picture is of a WC51 belonging to the BEF medical unit (From Rio de Janiero no less) [attachment deleted by admin]

  9. Mick & Cara - Well done doesn't even start to describe the momentous task you've acomplished, converting a tired 'ol Jimmy into a slick Clubmobile. Keep it up! Goran Noren Sweden Ambulance - FEB, Brazilian Expeditionary Force Italy 1944-45
  10. Hi Cara and Mick, I too am following the buildup of your Clubmobile. And I'm as in awe as everybody else on the pace your keeping. Super job! But, can I be a little sour-puss? Shouldn't the cutout above the rear wheels be a bit longer? I feel by looking at pictures that the cutout came all out to the outer edges of the tires? Maybe it would be easier to fix now instead of after paint etc. is finished. Looking forward to seeing the Clubmobile in all it's glory. Later Goran Noren Sweden
  11. Hi Mick, Could you send the plans to me too? Converting a ex Norway Jimmy sounds like fun. (Can double as a camper...) goran_noren@yahoo.com With kind regards Goran Noren, Sweden
